Ingredients for Padavalanga Vanpayar Erisseri (Snakegourd-Red Cowpeas Errisseri):
1. Red cow peas – 1 cup
2. Snake gourd – 1 small
Green chilli – 2, split
Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
Salt – As needed
3. Grated coconut – 1 cup
Cumin – ¼ small spoon
Shallots – 2
Garlic – 1 clove
Green chilli – 1
Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon
4. Coconut oil – 2 big spoons
5. Mustard seeds – ½ small spoon
Dried red chilli – 2, cut into pieces
Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
Grated coconut (for frying) – 1 big spoon
How to prepare Padavalanga Vanpayar Erisseri (Snakegourd-Red Cowpeas Erisseri)?
1. Soak red cow peas for 2 hours and cook on the stove.
2. When it is half cooked, add the ingredients listed under section 2 and cook well.
3. Grind the ingredients listed under section 3 slightly in a mixer, add to the cooked mixture, and stir well. Put off the flame.
4. Fry the ingredients listed under section 5 in coconut oil and add to the curry.
