Ravi Jhankal – Munnibhai Mukhani of ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’ fame

Ravi Jhankal is a Hindi actor best known for supporting roles. He has played comic roles and grey shaded roles on silver screen with ease. He is also an acclaimed theatre artist and television actor. Currently he is active in theatre as a member of Mumbai based Surnai. He was graduated from the prestigious NSD, Delhi. He is associated with film industry since the second half of 1980s, and rose to prominence with 2000s. He has been a part of several iconic Doordarshan series of 1990s as well.

In Bollywood he is best known for working in Shyam Benegal’s films, and has been a part of hit films like Welcome to Sajjanpur (2008) and Well Done Abba (2010). He played the character of played the character of Munnibhai Mukhani in Welcome to Sajjanpur, the role which shot him to instant fame. Koi Mil Gaya, Agneepath, Kyon, Hawayein, Bawander, Sardari Begum, Zubeidaa etc are other credited roles.

1. Ravi has been a part of iconic Doordarshan series of 1980s and1990s such as Mahabharata, Katha Sagar, Bharat Ek Khoj, Yatra, Aahat, Tenali Rama, Byomkesh Bakshi, Junoon, Swabhimaan etc.

2. He played the brief role of Kripacharya in the epic series, Mahabharata.

3. Chameli Ki Shaadi (1986) is his first credited film role.

4. He played the supporting role of Inspector Sarkar in the investigation series, Byomkesh Bakshi, and played former PM P. V. Narasimha Rao in Pradhanmantri, television political documentary series for ABP News.

5. He is a seasonal film actor, who is interested most in theatre roles.
