Oru Janmamaam song from Sundari Kaakka – Lyrics in English with Translation

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

Anayaatha pournamiyaayi ennum

Manassil nee udhippoo

As an undying fullmoon, everyday

You rise in my heart

Kulirthennalaay pularkaalamaay

Varumo varumo varumo

Like a cool breeze

Like a dawn

Can you come?

Can you come?

Can you come?

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

Thedunnu njaan ormmakalil

Kulirekum swapnangal

Maayunnu nin kanavukalil

Venal meghangal

I, searching in memories

Chilling dreams

In your fading dreams, summer clouds.

Thedunnu njaan ormmakalil

Kulirekum swapnangal

Maayunnu nin kanavukalil

Venal meghangal

I, searching in memories

Chilling dreams

In your fading dreams, summer clouds.

Ekaanthatha than maunangal

Aathmaavil swarasudhayaakumpol

Silences of loneliness

When they turn tune of soul

Ninavil neeyaam bhaavanayentho

Thedi…. thedi…. thedi….

In thoughts, you as imagination

Searched for something….

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

Neelunnoree veedhikalil

Thanalekum mohangal

Vaadunnoree malarithalil

Thengum kaavyangal

Extending are in these paths

Shady desires

In these withering flower petals

Sobbing poems

Neelunnoree veedhikalil

Thanalekum mohangal

Vaadunnoree malarithalil

Thengum kaavyangal

Extending are in these paths

Shady desires

In these withering flower petals

Sobbing poems

Naalukalaayen swapnamurangum

Theeravumekaakiniyaakumpol

When the shore where,

My dreams have been sleeping for days,

Manassil neeyaam poonkuyilentho

Paadee…paadee…paadee…

Also turns lonely

In mind, you, the cuckoo bird

Sang something….

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

Anayaatha pournamiyaayi ennum

Manassil nee udhippoo

As an undying fullmoon, everyday

You rise in my heart

Kulirthennalaay pularkaalamaay

Varumo varumo varumo

Like a cool breeze

Like a dawn

Can you come?

Can you come?

Can you come?

Oru janmamaam usha sandhyayaay

Ariyunnu jnan ninne

Mukil thedidum vezhambalaay

Thirayunnu njan ninne

As a birth of *UshaSandhya

I know you

As a hornbill searching cloud

Am in search of you

End note: The song/movie is about the search of a girl for her unseen lover, who she knows only through letters & roses

There is a term called *UshaSandhya in this song, which looks paradoxical. Usha is early morning/sunrise and Sandhya is dusk at the time of setting sun. So, its real meaning…. I still don’t know.
