Major Bikramjeet Kanwarpal – Popular character artist of Hindi cinema and television
Bikramjeet Kanwarpal (1968 – 2021) was an army major turned actor who predominantly works in Bollywood and Hindi TV shows. He portrayed both positive and negative character roles on Bollywood screen, and frequently appears as an army officer, police officer, businessman or executive. He joined films after he retired from military career in 2003 and is a familiar face among movie buffs. Paap in 2003 directed by Pooja Bhatt marked his acting debut, and some of his Bollywood roles include – Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Hate Story 2, Grand Masti, Rahasya, 2 States, Kya Love Story Hai etc. On May 1st 2021, he died of Covid-19 complications aged 52.
Bikramjeet Kanwarpal hailed from Solan, Himachal Pradesh. His father was a former army officer, a recipient of Kirti Chakra in 1963. Following his father’s footsteps he too chose the same field and retired as army major in 2003. Since then he also nurtured the dreams of becoming an actor, and following his retirement from army service, he embarked on a new journey to reach new career heights. He was mostly seen as an administrator or executive on Bollywood screen. Started with brief roles in 2003, he later moved to full-length roles, and has also appeared in south Indian movies. 24, Mere Rang Mein Rangne Waali, Kismat, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Crime Patrol – Dastak, Namak Haraam etc are some of his television appearances.
