End note: Lyrics are very bold, have double meaning too. Yet can’t deny its lyrical beauty. In fact, romantic songs till late 1970s are known for such bold lyrics & it’s common in that era. Yet lyrical beauty is amazing, comparing with new songs. This song has been my personal favourite always.

R. K. Shekhar was a gifted music arranger of classical era of Malayalam cinema, who composed a few memorable songs too. His debut song – Chotta muthal chudala vare (1964) & last song – Manasu manasinte kaathil (1976) are widely regarded as his masterpieces. Chotta muthal chudala vare is a philosophical song which literally translates as ‘From birth 2 cemetery’ & Manasu manasinte is a romantic song, which truly expresses the emotions of first night & consummation to this much perfection.

He was in his death bed while composing this song aged only 43. Nearly 45 yrs have passed since R. K. Shekhar composed his masterpiece song as his last work. No other Malayalam song has recreated the magic of this track till now, a song based on this theme. Truly he was a genius. His son carried forward his legacy and became world famous musician, and he is none other than A. R. Rahman.
