Donuts made in Kerala Style
Ingredients for Kerala Style Grandma Donut:
1. Maida – ½ Kg
Butter – 250 Grams
Sugar – 200 Grams
Eggs – 4
Salt – ¼ Teaspoon
Baking soda – 1 Teaspoon
2. Warm milk – As required for kneading
3. Oil – As required for frying
4. Powdered sugar – As required
How to prepare Kerala Style Grandma Donut?
1. Combine the ingredients no:1, add warm milk gradually, and knead well to make a soft chapati-like dough.
2. Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover, and let it rest for 1 hour.
3. Divide the dough into three portions and roll each to about ½ inch thickness.
4. Use the bottom of a cup or a round cookie cutter and cut small circles from the dough.
5. From the centre of each circle, use the base of a pen to cut out a ½ inch hole. It looks similar to uzhunnuvada.
6. Fry each piece in hot oil until cooked, then sprinkle powdered sugar on top and serve.

Note: When you make holes at the centre of donuts, they get more exposed to oil, and hence cooked well. Otherwise, the innermost core may not be cooked properly. But be sure with the flame. Never allow your snack to burn.
