Karale Karalinte Karale Song from Udayananu Tharam – Lyrics in English with Translation

Karale Karalinte Karale

Karale Karalinte Karale Ennodonnu Chirikkoo

Kiliye Maanasa Kiliye Veruthe Ninnu Kinungaathe (M)

Oh my dear, my heart’s own beloved,

Smile at me just once.

O bird, the bird of my soul,

Don’t just stand there sulking without reason

Njaanilla Njaanilla Ninnodu Koodaan

Njanilla Njaanilla Nin Vili Kelkkaan (F)

I’m not there, I’m not there, to stay with you,

I’m not there, I’m not there, to hear your call.

Angane Nee Kalambaathedi Kurumbi

Ente Snehithayaanu Nee…. (M)

Don’t walk away like that, you mischievous one,

You are my beloved friend

Karale Karalinte Karalee Ennodonnu Chirikkoo

Kiliye Maanasa Kiliye Veruthe Ninnu Kinungaathe..Hoyy (M)

Oh my dear, my heart’s own beloved,

Smile at me just once.

O bird, the bird of my soul,

Don’t just stand there sulking without reason

Foreign Kaaril Dollar Nottum Kondu

Maadi Vilichaal Koottinu Varumo Nee (M)

If I come in a foreign car,

Waving dollar notes and calling you,

Will you come with me?

Koottinenne Kittillallo Chetta

Ente Karalinte Vaathil Thurakkathe (F)

You won’t win over me so easily, dear,

Without opening the heart’s door of mine.

Foreign Kaaril Dollar Nottum Kondu

Maadi Vilichaal Koottinu Varumo Nee (M)

If I come in a foreign car,

Waving dollar notes and calling you,

Will you come with me?

Koottinenne Kittillallo Chetta

Ente Karalinte Vaathil Thurakkathe (F)

You won’t win over me so easily, dear,

Without opening the heart’s door of mine.

Aruthe Parayaruthe Ente Snehithayaanu Nee (M)

Don’t say that, please don’t say that,

You are my beloved…(female friend)

Njaanilla Njaanilla Ninnodu Koodaan

Njanilla Njaanilla Nin Vili Kelkkaan (F)

I’m not there, I’m not there, to stay with you,

I’m not there, I’m not there, to hear your call.

Angane Nee Kalambaathedi Kurumbi

Ente Snehithayaanu Nee…. (M)

Don’t walk away like that, you mischievous one,

You are my beloved friend

Karale Karalinte Karale Ennodonnu Chirikkoo

Kiliye Maanasa Kiliye Veruthe Ninnu Kinungaathe (M)

Oh, my dear, my heart’s own beloved,

Smile at me just once.

O bird, the bird of my soul,

Don’t just stand there sulking without reason

Mazhathulli Mani Kondenikku

Nooru Mazhavil Medakal Paniyaamo (F)

With raindrop jewels, can you build for me

Hundreds of rainbow palaces?

Mazhathulli Kottaaram Njan Kettaam

Vennilaavinte Mathilukal Paninju Tharaam (M)

I’ll build you a palace of raindrops,

And raise walls made of moonlight for you.

Mazhathulli Mani Kondenikku

Nooru Mazhavil Medakal Paniyaamo (F)

With raindrop jewels, can you build for me

Hundreds of rainbow palaces?

Mazhathulli Kottaaram Njan Kettaam

Ennodini Ennaal Ishttam Koodumo (M)

If so, will your love for me grow now?

Njanundu Njaanundu Ninnodu Koodaan

Njanundu Njaanundu Nin Vili Kelkkaan (F)

I am here, I am here, to stay with you (to make friendship with you),

Yes, I am here, I am here, to hear your call.

Angane En Vazhi Vaa Ente Kurumbi

Ente Snehithayaanu Nee….

Karalinte Karale – Song Trivia

The song Karalinte Karale is quite interesting because of some factors. It’s a dream sequence filmed in Ramoji film city.  While watching the filming of a romantic song sequence, Sreenivasan dreams about a romantic sequence between him and the character played by Meena, filmed in luxurious film sets in a grand way. Karalinte Karale is a very rare romantic song filmed on actor Sreenivasan. Pavizhamalli Poothulanja and Margazhiye Mallikaye are other popular songs, and one thing in common is the fun element associated with all these song sequences.

Karalinte Karale song was sung by Sreenivasan’s elder son Vineeth Sreenivasan, which is quite interesting. To do playback for father is the dream of every son, and Vineeth got this opportunity during his early phase when he just began his career singing Karalinte Karale . Though he recorded very few songs earlier, Karalinte Karale was his first chart buster, which brought him to the spotlight. He became an ace director & known actor only later. The beginning lines are Telugu (which I didn’t include in this translation).

Among all Indian screenwriters, perhaps Sreenivasan is the only one who trolls his characters most. In other words, he enjoyed self trolls, because he was aware he is trolling every Malayali, who hides their own insecurities. A few people make us laugh, a few people make us think and very few people make us laugh and think, and Sreenivasan was one among those rare ones. Read the list of his 10 best screenplays.

I noticed something after the actor’s demise. When an actor-director celebrity dies, people mostly talk about the movies he acted and the important roles he gave life on screen, because a star is always celebrated most, than a brilliant writer. Sreenivasan acted in over 225 films in significant roles and scripted nearly 40 films. In all talking forums, social media circles and TV channels, people are discussing more about his screenplays than acting roles, though his contributions as an actor to Malayalam cinema too is immensely huge.

That shows how intellectual Malayali audiences are and what kind of respect they are giving to good creators and writers. No wonder why content is the main king in Malayalam cinema, not stars, and for creating an intellectual generation of audience which whole world praises, Sreenivasan (in association with Sathyan Anthikad and Priyadarshan) played a great role in the 1980s and later. Hats off!
