Gabriela Bertante is a Brazilian model who appears in Indian films, mostly in special appearances as a dancer. She first came to limelight after appearing in an item number in Ajith Kumar’s Tamil movie Billa II, where she made a special appearance in item number “Yedho Mayakkam“. Apart from a few dance numbers, she also played the female lead in the 2014 Bollywood comedy-drama film Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya.
Gabriela Bertante is an ex-footballer
Gabriela Bertante belongs to Matias Barbosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. As a teenager at the age of 17, she used to help her parents at their store in her hometown. Then she moved to Sao Paulo to begin a career in modelling. She was interested in football during her teens, and has played in regional soccer leagues before she pursued modelling full-time. Her brother Glelberson Luís Leopoldino Bertante has also played football for some clubs in Brazil. Gabriela Bertante was fully into sports before she switched to modelling.
She moved to India as a fashion model in 2010
After finding modelling opportunities in India, she worked in Indian fashion industry for a while. Gabriela appeared in several magazine covers and was also featured as a ramp model for Lakmé Fashion Week. Her success as a model helped her to bag a few film opportunities in India.
She grabbed her first film project through Tamil film, Billa II, where she appeared in a dance sequence. Her success and popularity in the film helped her to bag two item songs from Telugu same year – Devudu Chesina Manushulu and Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu. All her three item songs came out in the same year – 2012.
Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya – Her debut Bollywood film as an actress
After appearing in 3 dance sequences back-to-back down South, this Brazilian model got her first Bollywood offer to play a full-fledged role of the lead actress in Balwinder Singh Famous Ho Gaya. The movie also marked the acting debut of popular singer Mika Singh. She played the lead role in the film, directed by Sunil Agnihotri and produced by Sunil Agnihotri Productions. She has also hosted a show, MTV Grind for MTV India.
After Brazilian models – Bruna Abdullah and Nathalia Kaur, Gabriela Bertante became one of the recognized faces in the Indian modelling industry, who also worked in film industry. However, after her short stint in Indian film and modelling industry, she suddenly disappeared.
