Majeed Memon – Renowned criminal lawyer and NCP leader
Majeed Memon is an Indian politician and parliamentarian, who currently serves as a member of Rajya Sabha. He represents the state of Maharashtra and is affiliated to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He joined office in April 2014. He is also a renowned criminal lawyer by profession, whose clients are high profile politicians, film celebrities, activists etc. His son Zulfiquar Memon is also a criminal lawyer by profession, based in Mumbai.
Majeed Memon was born in Mumbai in 1945 as the son of Haji Ahmed Memon. He is married to Shrimati Saeeda. As a politician, he is an NCP leader. As a criminal lawyer he came to prominence in the early 1990s. He defended many of the accused of 1993 Mumbai bomb blast. While serving as NCP state secretary in 2005 Memon was shot at by unknown persons. It was alleged that accused 5 were gang members of Ravi Pujari.

1. As a member of Rajya Sabha he is a Personnel at Public Grievances, Law and Justice and Rajya Sabha Select Committee on Real Estate Bill.
2. Many of prominent film actors and politicians are his clients.
3. Following the political drama in Maharashtra in 2019, his quote, “The government which was formed in the dark will be exposed in the light” became viral.
4. In 2005 there was a murder attempt on Memon. He was shot by unidentified by unknown persons and he narrowly escaped. Though charge sheets were filed against 5 people, the case is still pending.
