Beef Varatt (Beef Dry Fry)

Ingredients for Beef Varatt (Beef Dry Fry):

1. Coconut oil – 3 small spoons

2. Coconut – 1/2, scrapped

    Shallots – 10

    Garlic – 5 cloves

    Pepper – 10 seeds

    Curry leaves – A stalk

3. Chilli powder – 2 small spoons

    Coriander powder – 2 small spoons

    Masala powder – 1 small spoon

4. Fatless beef – 1 kilo, cut into pieces

5. Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Salt – For taste

How to prepare Beef Varatt (Beef Dry Fry)?

1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no: 2.

2. When coconut turns red colour, switch off the flame and allow the contents to cool.

3. Add ingredients no: 3 to coconut and blend it in a mixer. But don’t make it a fine paste.

4. Cook beef adding turmeric powder and salt.

5. Once done, add grinded coconut to it and cover it fully.

6. Cook it well and mix the contents.

Beef Varattiyath (Recipe 2)

Ingredients for Beef Varattiyath (Recipe 2):

1. Coconut oil – 4 small spoons

2. Curry leaves – 3 stalks

    Onion – 2.5, chopped

    Garlic – 12 cloves, crushed

    Ginger – 1 piece, crushed

    Green chillies – 5, split into two or four

3. Tomato – 2, chopped

4. Coriander powder – 4 small spoons

    Chilli powder – 3 small spoons

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

    Garam masala powder – 1 small spoon

    Fennel powder – ½ small spoon

    Pepper powder – 1 small spoon

    Cloves – 5

    Cinnamon – 1 piece

5. Beef – 1 kg, cut into pieces

6. Salt – As needed

How to prepare Beef Varattiyath (Recipe 2)?

1. Heat oil in a pressure cook and sauté ingredients no: 2.

2. When it is half done, add tomatoes and sauté it well.

3. Add ingredients no: 4 and sauté for 5 minutes.

4. Add beef, salt and ½ cup water and pressure cook it till 6-7 whistles.

5. Allow the pressure to drop to zero, and open after minimum 25 minutes.

6. To completely dry it, cook it for a few more minutes with lid open in low flame.
