Amberdeep Singh – Punjabi filmmaker, screenwriter and actor

Amberdeep Singh is a Punjabi filmmaker, screenwriter and actor. He is a film director and producer, who marked his career as a screenwriter through 2013 film, Jatt & Juliet 2. After writing scripts and dialogues for a few movies for a couple of movies, he marked his acting debut in a supporting role through 2016 film Love Punjab. In 2017 he directed his first film, Lahoriye which won Best debut director Filmfare award and Best director award at PTC Punjabi Film Awards. His memorable performance as Mehnga in Laung Laachi earned him Best Debut Actor Awards at PFA. The movie – Daddy Cool Munda Fool earned him PTC award for best dialogues. Bhajjo Veero Ve, Ashke, Laung Laachi and Lahoriye are his directorial ventures.

Amberdeep Singh was born in Abohar in Punjab. After studies he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in writing and film direction. He started off writing scripts for TV shows, and Chaldi Da Naam Gaadi in 2007 was his first work in television. He also co-scripted Punjabi film – Chak De Phate in 2008. He joined film industry in full swing in 2013 as a screenwriter and within the next 5 years he established as a talented filmmaker as well as actor in character roles. He has also bagged prestigious honours in best direction, screenplay and acting categories.

Jatt & Juliet 2, Daddy Cool Munde Fool, Happy Go Lucky, Goreyan Nu Daffa Karo and Angrej are among his best early works as a hit screenwriter. After that he started appearing in brief roles in the movies for which he writes scripts. He never left his passion of acting even after marking his debut as a director, and still plays character roles for the movies produced and directed by him.

1. His father is a journalist.

2. He holds a Master’s degree in theatre and television.

3. Screenwriter turned actor turned director, he plays brief roles in his scripted and directorial ventures.

4. He has received awards in best director, screenwriter and debut actor category.

5. During his school days he was a wrestler. But he had to leave the career because of injuries.
