Tender Coconut – Arrowroot Payasam (Karikk – Koovapodi Payasam)
Ingredients for Tender Coconut – Arrowroot Payasam (Karikk – Koovapodi Payasam):
1. Ghee/Butter – 1 small spoon
2. Raisins – 1 big spoon
3. Cashews – 2 big spoons
4. Tender coconut chopped fine – 100 g
5. Milk – 2 cups
Arrow root powder – 1 big spoon taken as a heap full
Sugar – 3 or 4 big spoons
6. Cardamom powder – ½ small spoon
Saffron – A pinch
How to prepare Tender Coconut – Arrowroot Payasam (Karikk – Koovapodi Payasam)?
1. Mix ingredients no: 5 together in a bowl.
2. Heat ghee or butter in a pan and add raisins.
3. When it bubbles, add cashews and tender coconut, and sauté well.
4. Reduce the flame and add the milk-arrow root mixture.
5. Keep stirring and boil the payasam.
6. When it thickens, add cardamom and saffron and put off the flame.
