Tea Cake

Ingredients for Tea Cake:

1. All-purpose flour – 250g 

    Baking powder – 1 tsp 

2. Unsalted butter (softened) – 250g 

    Powdered sugar – 250g 

    Egg yolks – 4 

3. Orange zest – ½ tsp 

    Lemon zest – A pinch 

4. Milk – ¼ cup 

5. Egg whites – 4 

   Vanilla essence – As required 

   Powdered sugar – As required 

How to prepare Tea Cake?

1. Sift the all-purpose flour and 1 tsp baking powder together. 

2. In a bowl, beat the softened butter, powdered sugar, and egg yolks until well combined. 

3. Add the grated lemon zest and orange zest to this mixture and mix well. 

4. Once the butter mixture becomes smooth, gradually add the flour, one spoon at a time. 

5. Take ¼ cup milk and add it in small portions along with the flour. Keep alternating between flour and milk while mixing. 

6. Beat the egg whites thoroughly. 

7. Add vanilla essence and powdered sugar to the beaten egg whites and whisk well. 

8. Gently fold this into the flour mixture and mix carefully. 

9. Pour the batter into a greased, parchment-lined cake tin. 

10. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F for 35-45 minutes until done.
