Suzanne Khan – Former wife of Hrithik Roshan

Suzanne Khan, formerly known as Suzanne Roshan is an interior fashion designer. She belongs a filmy family with many artists earned their names as actors and directors. She is the daughter of former film actor and director Sanjay Khan. Her uncles – Feroz Khan was a film actor and director, Akbar Khan is a film director and her younger brother, Zayed Khan and first cousin Fardeen Khan are film actors. She was formerly married to Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan and has two sons.

Suzanne Khan was born in 1978 in Mumbai into a family of film actors and directors. Unlike her filmy father, she chose her mother’s profession as an interior designer. Yet she got married into a filmy family. She married Hrithik Roshan in year 2000 after a courtship of 4 years. Her sister Farah Khan Ali is a gemologist and jewellery designer while her brother-in-law DJ Aqeel is a well-known DJ, composer and singer.

She completed Art Associate Degree in interior designing in 1995 from the Brooks College in USA, and marked her professional career the following year. Along with Gauri Khan (Shah Rukh Khan’s wife) she launched The Charcoal Project in Mumbai, the first interior fashion design store in India, and this association became a great success.

Suzannne dated Hrithik for three years when Hrithik had just made up his mind to become an actor. They have been childhood friends till then. Soon after Hrithik became a star, they got married in 2001. They mutually separated in 2013, and unlike many divorced couples, they are still good friends, and spend time with their kids together. Before their separation, Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan were one of the hottest couples in Bollywood.

Suzanne Khan – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. Suzanne’s mother Zarine Katrak is also an interior designer. She was so much obsessed with this field that she never wanted to join films.

2. After marrying Hrithik Roshan, she became a member of Roshan family, music composer of Taj Mahal fame. Hrithik Roshan is the son of film actor & director Rakesh Roshan and the nephew of music composer Rajesh Roshan. Thus she was related to filmmaker J. Om Prakash also.

3. She was the first interior fashion designer for the company The Label Life, started in 2012.

4. Her father was briefly married to iconic actress and model of 1970s, Zeenat Aman.

5. She knew Hrithik since he was 12. Though Hrithik fell in love with her, he was so shy to express it. Later she went abroad for higher studies, and they became friends once again after she returned.

6. They got married a few months after his debut film release. At that time he had a huge female fan following crowd, and he used to get hundreds of love letters every day. It makes everyone remember the glorious era of Rajesh Khanna soon after he earned stardom, and his marriage with Dimple Kapadia at the peak of his career.

7. Since the beginning of shooting of ‘Kites’, they had a strained relationship. There were rumours of Hrithik’s affair with his co-star Barbara Mori. Their relationship couldn’t withstand with the test of time and broke up after 3 years.

8. When Kangana Ranaut openly told media that she was in relationship with Hrithik and that the actor betrayed her, Suzanne stood with her ex-husband.
