Sooraj E. S is an award-winning editor of Malayalam cinema. He won Kerala state film awards for best editing for his acclaimed work, Kishkindha Kaandam in 2024. Apart from Kishkindha Kaandam, he edited the other two ventures of Dinjith Ayyathan – Kakshi: Amminippilla (2019) and Eko (2025), and his works were appreciated. Vellimoonga, Thalavan and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol are other noted works.

Sooraj was born in Thrissur on 30 November 1982. He completed his schooling from SNBHS Kanimangalam, Thrissur. After his graduation, Sooraj started freelancing as an editor for a few firms. His debut in the film industry as an editor happened with 24 Hours (2010) by Aditya Sam Abraham. His first noted work was Vellimoonga in 2014. It was followed by Jilebi (2015), Salt Mango Tree (2015), Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol (2017), Aadya Rathri (2019), Ittyamani: Made in China (2019), In (2022) etc.

Kishkindha Kaandam – The work which established his career in Mollywood
He silently worked in the film industry, and he received bag of hits, flops and mixed responses. He was still waiting one such big break, which earns him recognition. It took nearly 15 years to get that appreciation through Kishkindha Kaandam. The movie was the second release of Dinjith Ayyathan, and Sooraj earlier worked in the director’s debut film, Kakshi: Amminippilla too.
The way the movie was cut, he received heaps of praises for his editing skills, and his presence was noticed for the first time. Thus, he joined the list of frequent artists of the director who regularly worked with them. He, along with director Dinjith Ayyathan, composer Mujeeb Majeed and screenwriter cum cinematographer Bahul Ramesh gave masterpiece films to Malayalam cinema, alongside a lot of expectations.
Vadakkan and Eko are other major works
He started receiving more projects from Malayalam cinema. In 2025, he collaborated with the crew of Kishkindha Kaandam, to edit his classic work, Eko. The final chapter of Animal triology, his editing works alongside the amazing camera work of Bahul Ramesh blends nature and animal ecosystem as a theme in this gripping thriller. His editing skills managed to keep audience at the edge of the seat until movie climax is unfolded. Pendulum, Theepori Benny, Four, Ellam Shariyaakum, Mein Hoon Moosa, Vadakkan, Shantamee Ratriyil etc are the editor’s other major works.

About his personal life, Sooraj E. S is married to Athira Sooraj since 18th August 2012. They have 2 children. He owns a sound production company, TAD Studios, where he works as chief sound engineer. Currently he is settled in Kochi with his family.
