Some simple tips to keep your indoor plants fresh
If you are a great lover of green colour and wish to see greenery in front of your eyes always, you can choose a few indoor plants to place in your living room. Indoor plants are blessings to nature cum garden lovers who live in metros in small flats. But care given to such indoor plants is different from that of outdoor plants. Let me provide a few simple tips for you, to keep them fresh and alive.
1. To add extra shine to your indoor plants, add a few drops of glycerin to a cotton cloth and use it to clean their leaves. Milk-water mixture, taken in equal amount is another option to clean leaves of your indoor plants.
2. Though placed inside indoor plants should get sufficient sunlight and air ventilation. Once in 10 or 15 days, place them outside to get natural sunlight. But never place them under direct sun. Shady places are best.
3. If leaf tips become grey or yellow colour appears in the lower side of leaves, it can be assumed that you have over-watered it. Never give water to such plants for next two days. But if you see dried soil in the plant pot, you can water a little.
4. If plant doesn’t get sufficient water too, such colour changes may appear on their leaf tips, either grey or yellow. Dip the plant along with its pot in water. If needed, you can water it frequently.
5. If humidity is high inside your rooms, indoor plants may get fungus attack easily. If so, place them under sunlight for a while.
6. If you feel that your plant is tired and gloomy, add a big spoon of castor oil to its pot and sprinkle a little water. Your plant will become fresh within a short while.
Through this column I have given a few basic things to be noted while placing plants inside your rooms. Give them enough sunlight and air to grow them natural as normal plants. But never place them under direct sun, as they are not used to it.
