
Ingredients for Simple Banana – Yam Curry:
- Plantain – 1, chopped into pieces
- Yam – A small piece, chopped into pieces
- Salt, turmeric powder – As required
- Asafoetida powder – 2 pinches
- Fenugreek powder – 1 pinch
- Chilli powder – 1 small spoon
- Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Mustard – 1 small spoon
- Red chillies – 2, broken into two
- Curry leaves – A little
How to prepare Simple Banana – Yam Curry?
- Cook banana and yam pieces with sufficient water, turmeric powder, and salt.
- When the vegetables are well-cooked, add asafoetida, fenugreek, and chilli powders.
- Add extra water if needed.
- Boil the contents well and turn off the flame.
- Heat oil in a pan and sputter the mustard seeds.
- Fry the chillies and curry leaves, and add to the Banana – Yam Curry.
Note: You can bring twists to this simple vegetarian curry by adding curd or coconut milk at the final stage. Heat the curry by adding curd or coconut milk (no need to boil). Temper it with oil and the remaining ingredients too.
