Sheela Rajkumar – Popular Tamil actress of Azhagiya Tamil Magal fame

Sheela Rajkumar is a south Indian actress, who predominantly works in Tamil film and television industry. She is a trained classical dancer and performs Bharatnatyam on stage. Her lead role opposite Puvi in Azhagiya Tamil Magal, the popular daily soap aired on Zee Tamil is one of her early popular works on television. After playing noted supporting roles like Naan, Pizza, To Let etc, she moved to lead roles. Currently she plays both lead and supporting roles, apart from a few cameo appearances. Pichaikkaran 2, Noodles, Mandela, Jothi etc are some of her noted roles in recent times.

Sheela Rajkumar started her film journey in 2012

Sheela hails from Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu and was born on June 14, 1992. Later she shifted to Chennai. She made a brief appearance in movie, Naan in 2012. The movie marked her screen debut at the age of 20. She was also seen in horror thriller, Pizza the same year.

She has been a part of Chennai-based theatre group Koothu-P-Pattarai where she was performing theatrical arts. She also appeared in a few short films.

Television gave her initial recognition

In 2017 she bagged her first television role, Azhagiya Tamil Magal in a lead role. The show, which was a remake of Telugu language television series Mutyala Muggu, was aired one year earlier. Her role of a village girl Poongkodi, a Kabaddi game player gave her instant popularity. Very soon she started getting good roles from film industry.

To Let – Her first lead role

She played her first lead role on big screen through critically acclaimed 2017 film, To Let. The movie tells the story of a family which desperately tries searching for a home on rent. It was followed by less-noticed film, Manusangada. She also appeared in Asuravadham, which fared well at box office.

In 2019 she marked her Malayalam debut with the popular film, Kumbalangi Nights, where she played the supporting role of Sathi. Namma Veettu Pillai, Draupathi, Pichaikkaran 2, Noodles, Mandela, Jothi etc are her Tamil releases later. She was also seen in a cameo role in 2023 hit film, Jigarthanda DoubleX.

Apart from movies and TV shows, she has been a part of few web series too. She marked her TV series debut through Pettaikaali in 2022. She plays the lead role of Thenmozhi in this series. She has been a part of a few short films like Shakshi, Edhu Thevaiyo Adhuve Dharmam etc and Youtube series, Livin’. She is married to Chozhan.
