Sara Arjun is an Indian actress who works in both Bollywood and south Indian cinema. After proving her versatility as a child artist across different languages, she moved to adult roles. She played Aishwarya Rai’s younger version in Ponniyin Selvan series, and in 2025 at the age of 20, did her first adult role in a female lead in Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar. The movie also marks her female debut in Bollywood as adult heroine.

Sara was born on 18th June 2005 as the daughter of actor Raj Arjun, known for character roles in Bollywood and south Indian cinema. She was born in Mumbai. Coming from a family with film background, she started her career as a model at the age of 1.5. She was spotted at a mall with her parents by ad makers, and since then she has been a part of the modelling industry. Before she turned 6 years old, she has been a part of more than 100 ads, including McDonald’s, Maggie Noodles and various FMCG products.

Deiva Thirumagal – The turning point of Sara’s acting career

Her debut film as a child actress was 404 in 2011. This Bollywood film received favourable reviews from critics. But she gained immense popularity after playing the central character Nila Krishna, daughter of Krishna, the mentally challenged man played by Vikram. Sara Arjun had earlier done an ad for director Vijay when she was two. Her parents helped her with Tamil dialogues, with the help of their Tamil friend, Maheswari. Ek Thi Daayan and her other works as a child actor

Ek Thi Daayan (2013) was her third film, and she played Misha Mathur, the little sister of Bobo, the childhood character of Emraan Hashmi. She later acted with many leading stars of Bollywood, many times playing their younger versions. Some of her noted appearances are Jai Ho, Jazbaa, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, Ajeeb Daastaans, Saand Ki Aankh, The Song of Scorpions etc.

Alongside, she worked in south Indian cinema too. She played female lead in Chithirayil Nilachoru, a Tamil drama film. After Deiva Thirumagal, her most memorable Tamil film is Saivam (2014), where she played female lead, Tamizhselvi. This critically acclaimed film was remade in Telugu as Dagudumootha Dandakor (2015), where Sara Arjun reprised her character as Bangaram. Both Deiva Thirumagal and Saivam earned her Vijay Awards. Her role in Sillu Karupatti was also well received.

Ponniyin Selvan – Another milestone of Sara Arjun’s acting journey

Mani Ratnam casted young Sara in his dream project Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 in 2022, where she played young Nandini (adult character played by the lead heroine Aishwarya Rai). She reprised the role in its sequel too. Movie’s success earned her fame and recognition, alongside other actors. Her emotional range and ability to perform in different languages work in favour for her always.
