Saji Soman – Malayalam Actor & Son of M. G. Soman, actor of yesterdays
Saji Soman is an actor associated with Malayalam film industry. He is the son of popular actor of yesterdays, M. G. Soman. Mostly playing character roles, O.Baby (2023), Stop Violence (2002) and The Campus (2005) are his noted appearances. He made a great comeback in 2023 with the commercial hit, O.Baby. It’s 25 years now, since his father passed away.
Saji Soman is a businessman too
Saji Soman was born to M. G. Soman and Sujatha. Like many sons of leading actors of yesterdays, he also joined films in the early 2000s. However his film journey was not successful, and he started looking after a condiment company started by his father – Bhadra Spices, named after the goddess of a local temple.
Many actor sons marked screen debut in 2002
Saji Soman has not even appeared in a stage play before he made his film debut. Stop Violence (2002) marked his screen debut in antagonist role. It was Prithviraj’s second release after Nandanan released the same year. In fact Prithviraj’s father Sukumaran and Saji Soman’s father M. G. Soman worked together in many hit films of 1970s and 1980s. Quite interestingly, actor Raghavan’s son Jishnu and director Bharathan’s son Siddharth also made screen debut the same year.
Saji Soman played his first lead role through Thilakam, and played supporting roles in Lion and Campus. In 2008 he moved to gulf and returned back to Malayalam cinema only in 2023, yes, after a long break of 15 years. He played Jomon in 2023 release, O.Baby. His father desired to see him as an actor. But when he joined film industry, Soman was not there.
Saji is settled with his family life and has one son and one daughter. His son Shekhar played the childhood role of Biju Menon in ‘Bharathan Effect’. But later he gave importance to studies, and left film industry. Saji’s wife Bindu is doing catering business in their home town, Thirumoolapuram near Thiruvalla.
