Sai Gundewar – Hindi actor and model best known for his appearance in ‘MTV Splitsvilla – Season 4’

Sai Gundewar (1978 – 2020) was an actor and model associated with Hindi entertainment industry. He came to limelight for the first time in 2010, when he participated in ‘MTV Splitsvilla – Season 4’ and reached the finale. He also appeared in the reality show, Survivor on Star Plus India in 2011. He was also an entrepreneur and model.

Sai has played brief cameo roles in PK, Bazzaar, I, Me Aur Main, Rock On and David, and is best remembered for his role as man who sells ticket in black in PK. He appears in the scene, where Anushka Sharma and Sushant Rajput Singh meets for the first time, and go for an argument to grab the single ticket left in ticket seller’s hands. He died of brain cancer during corona season in May 2020 at the age of just 42.

He came to spotlight during MTV Splitsvilla – Season 4 in 2010

Sai Gundewar hailed from Nagpur, Maharashtra. After studies he moved to US in search of a job. As he was destined for something else, he failed to get a green card or work permit, and returned home in 2007. He was seen in a brief uncredited role in Salman Khan’s Yuvraaj, before he appeared in the 4^th season of MTV Splitsvilla. The show earned him a lot of popularity and he managed to reach the finals. The following year he became a part of Indian version of the American hit Reality show, Survivor Season 1, and finished among top 10.

His bald look earned him popularity on small screen, and Sai started playing brief roles on Bollywood screen and turned an entrepreneur too. He co-founded Foodizm – a healthy meal delivery service in Mumbai. It became a great shock for many, when he lost his battle to brain cancer on 10 May 2020, just 10 days after Bollywood lost two great iconic actors – Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor during Corona season. He was undergoing his cancer treatment in US. He had shared details about his disease through social media handles last year. He was survived by his wife Sapna.

1. After Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor, he became the next victim of cancer, which took away their lives during corona season. Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor died in the last two days of April, with a few hours of difference while Sai Gundewar lost his battle to cancer just 10 days later.

2. His full name is Saiprasad Gundewar.

3. He used to call himself, ACTORpreneur, as he wanted to carry his acting and business careers hand in hand.

4. He acted in many TVCs during his initial days in modelling.

5. Muniya (2008) was his acting role for Bollywood movies. Before that he played cameo roles in Hollywood films – Choose Connor and Gabriel both released in 2007 and also one short film – Eve (2005) prior to it, while in Australia.

6. He completed MBA in IT, and worked in Australia before moving to US in search of better job opportunities. He completed PG in Australia in 2000 and worked there till 2006 in different companies before moving to US.

7. Initially he was a non-vegetarian. Later he changed his food habits and became a vegetarian.

8. He married Sapna Amin, a fashion designer in 2015.
