Movie Trivia About the Copied Songs
The album featured three songs composed by A. T. Ummer — Yesudas’ solo “Antharindriya Daahangal” and two solo songs by Janaki, “Rakendu Kirangal” and “Unni Aarariro.” All three songs became extremely popular for their melodious tunes and soulful renditions.
However, both of Janaki’s solos were reportedly adapted from 1970s Bollywood songs. “Rakendu Kirangal” closely resembles Lata Mangeshkar’s popular song “Pal Bhar Mein” from Swami, which was released a year before Avalude Ravukal. The song was filmed on Shabana Azmi.
Similarly, the well-known lullaby “Unni Aarariro” bears strong similarities to Lata Mangeshkar’s solo “Kah Rahe Hain Yeh Aansoo,” composed by R. D. Burman for Jheel Ke Us Paar (1973). The Hindi song, a relatively lesser-known sad track, was filmed on Mumtaz.

As far as I know, this was the first Malayalam film to receive an A certificate. The film was directed by a leading filmmaker and featured mainstream actors, yet it dealt with bold and unconventional themes. Later, the director I. V. Sasi married the lead actress, Seema, who made her debut with this cult classic.
