Palak Kappa Puttu (Spinach-Tapioca Steam Cake)

Ingredients for Palak Kappa Puttu:

1. Oil – 1 small spoon

2. Mustard – ½ small spoon

3. Onions – 1 cut into small pieces

4. Palak (green spinach) chopped – 1 cup

5. Garlic – 1 clove

    Green chillies – 1

    Cumin seeds – ¼ to ½ small spoon

    Coconut scrapped – ½ cup

6. Tapioca boiled adding salt – 2 cups

    Salt – As required

7. Green chillies – 3

    Ginger – 1 small piece

    Shallots – 5

    Coconut scrapped – ½ cup

How to prepare Palak Kappa Puttu?

1. Make a fine paste of ingredients no: 5.

2. Heat oil, splutter mustards and then sauté onions.

3. Add palak and sauté again.

4. Add the fine paste of ingredients no: 5 and sauté well with palak and take away from flame.

5. Blend once ingredients no: 7 and mix with cooked tapioca.

6. Now make steam cake as usual, by filling the puttumaker (puttu kutti) with tapioca and palak in alternate layers.
