Paal Pidi Mutton

Ingredients for Paal Pidi Mutton:

For Pidi:

1. Water – 2.5 cups

    Salt – As per taste

2. Rice flour – 2 cups

3. Coconut scrapped – ½

    Fennel seeds – 1 small spoon

    Shallots – 4

For Mutton Curry:

5. Mutton – ¾ kg, cut into pieces

6. Ginger chopped – 1 small spoon

    Garlic chopped – 1 small spoon

    Turmeric powder – ¼ small spoon

    Salt – As per taste

    Garam masala powder – ½ small spoon

7. Coconut oil – 50 milli

8. Shallots – 10, chopped

   Ginger-garlic paste – 1 small spoon

   Tomato – 1, chopped

   Onion – 1, chopped

9. Chilli powder – 2 small spoons

   Kashmiri chilli powder – 1 small spoon

   Fennel powdered – ½ small spoon

   Pepper powder – ½ small spoon

10. Ghee – 2 small spoons

11. Coriander leaves – 1 small spoon

      Shallots – 5, sliced into round thin pieces

      Cashews – 50 gm

How to prepare Paal Pidi Mutton?

1. Boil water adding salt and add rice flour to it.

2. Mix it well and put off the flame. Allow it to cool.

3. Knead it and make small balls from it.

4. Using finger, gently press the centre portion of the balls.

5. Steam cook these balls.

6. Grind ingredients no: 3 in a mixer and extract coconut milk.

7. Boil the balls adding this coconut milk.

8. Add a small spoon of flour to little coconut milk, mix well and add to it.

9. Continue cooking till the contents thicken.

10. Put off the flame. This is the paal pidi.

11. To prepare mutton curry, cook mutton adding ingredients no: 6.

12. Heat oil in a pan and sauté ingredients no: 8.

13. Add the powders and sauté again.

14. Add cooked mutton and mix the contents well.

15. Continue cooking till gravy thickens.

16. Heat ghee in a pan and fry ingredients no: 11.

17. Add it to mutton curry and put off the flame.

18. Spread pidi in a plate.

19. You can pour mutton curry on top, or serve in a separate plate long with pidi.
