Kukku Tambli is a traditional Udupi dish. It’s a chilly hot curry used with rice meals. Tambli, also pronounced as Tambuli is prepared by adding curd or buttermilk.

Kukku Tambli - Udupi Mango pickle curry

Ingredients for Kukku Tambli (Mango Pickle Tambli):

1. Tender mango (Kanni Maanga) salted/pickle – 2

2. Coconut scraped – 1 small spoon

3. Buttermilk – 2 cups

4. Salt – For taste

5. Oil – 2 small spoons for tempering

6. Mustard – 1 small spoon

   Red chillies – 3 or 4 pieces

   Curry leaves – A little

How to prepare Kukku Tambli (Mango Pickle Tambli)?

1. Cut the salted mango along with its seeds into small pieces.

2. Add coconut, salt, and a little buttermilk to the mango pieces and make a fine paste.

3. Add the remaining buttermilk to it and mix well.

4. Sauté ingredients no: 6 in oil and add to the curry.

Note: You can grind extra red chillies if you want.
