Kannada actor Krishna – Best known by the stage name Darling Krishna

Krishna, better known by the screen name Darling Krishna is a popular Kannada actor of new generation. His real name is Sunil Kumar N. As a lead hero, he owns a few hit films to his credit. In 2020 he marked his directorial debut with ‘Love Mocktail’, which received favourable reviews for his acting skills as well as direction. He along with his co-star Milana Nagaraj turned film producers with this movie, which was a profitable venture. He started his film journey as an assistant director in Kannada film industry and has completed one decade in the entertainment field.

Krishna started his film journey as an assistant director

Darling Krishna hails from Mysore, Karnataka. He was born in 1985. His father Nagappa is a retired Police officer. Since young Krishna dreamt to become an actor. As insisted by his father he completed his MBA studies before pursuing a career in film industry. Later he joined as an assistant director under Duniya Suri for the movie Jackie followed by Hudugaru.

His acting career began with television

As an actor he marked his debut with TV serial, Krishna Rukmini, where he played the lead role of Krishna. The role was so popular that people started addressing him as Krishna, and later he decided to take it as his screen name. In 2013 he got his first break to films through Madarangi in a lead role, and he made an impressive debut. He played lead role in Nam Duniya Nam Style released same year, and both these films were hits. Since then he appeared in a dozen of Kannada films, playing lead roles and a few cameo roles too.

He turned a film producer with Love Mocktail in year 2020

His Kannada movies are Charlie, John Jani Janardhan, Mumbai, Huchha 2 and Love Mocktail. His lead role as Aadi in Love Mocktail, modelled on Premam, which told his romantic relationship with three women in different points of time, and narrating the whole events to a fourth girl was well appreciated. He played the role of film director, producer, screenwriter, dialogue writer, choreographer and action choreographer for fight scenes., thus wearing multiple hats for a single film, that too for the first time. The rom-com received favourable reviews from critics for its refreshing story telling. His movies – Local Train, Virgin and Chandralekha Returns are slated to get released in 2020. Krishna now owns the production company Krishna Talkies.

Darling Krishna – Some interesting and less-known facts

1. His real name is Sunil Kumar N or Sunil Kumar Nagappa. Krishna was the name of the lead role he essayed in a Kannada TV serial, Krishna Rukmini aired on Suvarna. Madarangi was his first movie in a lead role, and after receiving favourable reviews, he added the tag ‘Darling’ which he used in the movie, to his name Krishna. Since then he is known as Darling Krishna.

2. He shared screen space with Milana Nagaraj in many movies, right from her debut film, Nam Duniya Nam Style (Krishna’s second movie), followed by Charlie and Love Mocktail. Latter marked the directorial debut of Krishna, and the film was produced by Milana and Krishna together. The movie marked their career beginning as successful producers.

3. He played uncredited guest roles in the movies, Jackie and Hudugaru. He worked as an assistant director for both these movies.

4. In 2014 a case was filed against him for a murder attempt of his friend. He was granted a bail later. Now a total of 8 cases are pending against him.

5. To get into the skin of the role in Love Mocktail, which narrated a person’s story from 15 to 35 years, he had to shed a lot of kilos, and lost 10 kilos to play a college boy. He had just two meals a day to loss a few pounds, to fit into the role.

6. In year 2020 soon after the release of Love Mocktail, the lead pair Darling Krishna and Milana announced that they are a couple and have been together for more than 5 years. The couple disclosed their relationship status during the second week of release of the movie, which was already running successfully at theaters.
