K. Sudhakaran is a Kerala politician and Parliamentarian associated with Indian National Congress. Got defeated to LDF’s P. K. Sreemathy in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Kannur constituency; he defeated the same candidate in 2019 from the same seat to reach parliament for the second time. He was elected to Lok Sabha for the first time from Kannur constituency in 2009. He has served as an MLA and Minister for the Forest Department in the state government from 2001 to 2004. He was defeated in 2016 state assembly elections by K Kunhiraman from Udma of Kasaragod district. K. Sudhakaran is always known for his efforts to bring the Congress Party to Kannur district, an LDF-dominant district.
K. Sudhakaran – Controversial politician from Kerala

Kumbakudi Sudhakaran, shortly called K. Sudhakaran, was born in 1948. He holds a Master’s degree as well as LLB. Known to be an outspoken leader of the party, many of his principles are quite contradictory to the non-violent principles of the Indian National Congress. Yet he owns a prominent position in state politics within the party. As a Congress leader he came to prominence in the early 2000s and has represented his party at the state and national levels. In 2019, he joined the Lok Sabha for his second term as MP.
K. Sudhakaran – Some interesting and lesser-known facts
1. During his term as MP in 2012, he created a scene at the Valapattanam police station to get one of his supporters released from police custody, leading to controversies.
2. His political efforts are directly linked to Kannur district, best known for political violence. His own ‘violent’ stand which is against his party politics actually helped him to bring Congress to prominence in those regions.
3. His attitude has earned him the title – ‘man of controversies’.
4. He narrowly escaped three murder attempts in Kannur.
5. His campaign video for the 2019 general elections invited controversy, and the Kerala Women’s Commission registered a suo motu case against him for insulting LDF candidate P. K. Sreemathy.
