Irumbanpuli – Unakka Munthiri Sweet Achar (Bilimbi – Raisins Sweet Pickle)

Ingredients for Irumbanpuli – Unakka Munthiri Sweet Achar (Bilimbi – Raisins Sweet Pickle):

1. Small sized bilimbi – 250 gm

    Salt – As required

2. Gingelly oil – 4 big spoons

3. Garlic – ½ cup

4. Garlic paste – 2 small spoons

    Ginger paste – 2 small spoons

5. Chilli powder – 1 big spoon

    Turmeric powder – 1 small spoon

6. Raisin paste – 2 big spoons

7. Raisins – 1 cup

8. Jaggery scrapped – ½ cup

9. Boiled water – ½ cup

How to prepare Irumbanpuli – Unakka Munthiri Sweet Achar (Bilimbi – Raisins Sweet Pickle)?

1. Salt bilimbi and dry under direct sun for 2-3 days, 8 hours each.

2. Heat oil and sauté garlic, followed by ingredients no: 4.

3. When a pleasant smell comes out, add ingredients no: 5 and mix well.

4. Add raisin paste, stir well and add dried bilimbi and raisins.

5. Mix contents well and add scrapped jaggery and boiled water.

6.Reduce the flame and boil the pickle for a few minutes.

7. Put off the flame and allow to cool.

8. Store in air-tight containers.
