Focaccia Bread - Bread variants

Ingredients for Focaccia Bread:

1. Lukewarm water – One and three-fourths cup

    Sugar/honey – Three-fourth small spoon

2. Yeast – One and three-fourths small spoons

3. Maida – Three cups

    Salt – One small spoon

4. Extra virgin olive oil – Three big spoons + For greasing

  Sea salt, fresh rosemary, herbs, garlic, olive, cherry tomato (if needed) – For garnishing

How to prepare Focaccia Bread?

1. After mixing the first ingredients, sprinkle the yeast on top and keep for 5–10 minutes. It will rise well.

2. Combine maida and salt in a bowl.

3. Add three big spoons of extra virgin olive oil and the yeast mixture to the maida and mix well.

4. Place the maida on a lightly floured surface and knead well for five to ten minutes. Prepare a soft, stretchy dough.

5. Apply a little extra virgin olive oil in a large bowl, place the dough in it, and coat it well. It avoids the dryness on the surface of the dough.

6. Keep it undisturbed for one to two hours. It will double in size.

7. Grease a 5*13-inch baking tray with olive oil.

8. Punch down the risen dough, grease lightly, place it in the baking tray, and keep it in a warm place undisturbed for 30–60 more minutes.

9. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees celsius.

10. Drizzle a little more olive oil on the dough and gently press here and there with your fingers. Sprinkle flaky sea salt or preferred toppings on top.

11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes. It should turn golden brown in colour/cook well.

12. Cut and serve once slightly cooled.
