Flattened Rice Pockets (Aval Pockets)

Ingredients for Flattened Rice Pockets (Aval Pockets):

1. Onions – 2, chopped fine

    Rice flakes (flattened rice) – 1 cup

    Turmeric powder – 1/4 small spoon

    Chilli powder – 3/4 small spoon

    Cumin powder – 1/2 small spoon

    Green chillies chopped fine – 1 small spoon

    Ginger chopped fine – 1 small spoon

    Coriander leaves chopped fine – 1 big spoon

    Salt – For taste

2. Wheat flour – 2 cups

3. Oil – 2 small spoons

    Mustard – 1 small spoon

    Sesame seeds – 1/2 small spoon

How to prepare Flattened Rice Pockets (Aval Pockets)?

1. Mix ingredients 1 together and keep aside. This is the filling 

2. Take wheat flour in a bowl, and sufficient salt and water and knead the dough.

3. Allow it to rest for at least 20 minutes.

4. Make small balls out of them and spread them into chapatis.

5. Place a little filling inside each chapati, fold from four sides and spread again to get square shapes.

6. Steam cook these rice flakes filled chapatis.

7. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds and sesame seeds.

8. Place Flattened Rice Pockets on its top and fry both sides.

9. Fry until they turn golden brown on both sides.
