Exactly 20 years after iconic Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) when Dilwale got released everyone expected it to be the next DDLJ. The movie also marked the re-union of Shah Rukh and Kajol after 5 years, and audience expected it be a ‘Qayamat’ as it has been always since Baazigar was released in 1993. But was it a good one to watch among SRK movies? Definitely not!

Definitely Dilwale is the worst movie of the Shah Rukh Khan – Kajol pair

Dilwale movie Shah Rukh
I watched the movie next week of the theatric release, and what I felt was – It was better if the movie was not made! The movie might be pretty OK for less known actors, but definitely not for the most established star Jodi of Bollywood. I would have to say, Dilwale is the worst movie of SRK-Kajol pair, and I still wonder why both these talented actors did this brainless movie. In the recent times, though Shah Rukh movies have done well at box office, it has not gone well with critics, and audience like me who expects to watch SRK as a performing actor on screen rather than a superstar. The only exception is ‘Fan’, and really loved to see old Shah Rukh back to action.

Now back to our topic – Dilwale (2015). Rohit Shetty known for action movies and successful association with Ajay Devgan has earlier worked with SRK for Chennai Express, which did great wonders at box office. The movie was a family entertainer and known for several hilarious comedy scenes. However Dilwale was one of the worst movies of director’s career. The only positive thing is its lovely music, and beautiful picturization of Gerua song.

Gerua Song from Dilwale

Also I liked the performances of its supporting cast, particularly Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, and Johny Lever in comedy scenes.  Their comic timing was impressive. What else in the movie was just ‘Ordinary’, either the film script or the performance of Kajol. I wonder why Kajol received a nomination in the Filmfare Awards for best actress category. Comparing her performances with previous records, it’s not up to mark. Her makeup also ruined her natural looks, I felt so while watching the movie (except the Gerua song). Though Shah Rukh looks dashing as usual, the bad script spoils the whole game, and it was not a promising reunion for King Khan and Kajol after a gap of 5 years.

The pair created magic in 1995 when DDLJ got released. The film producers stole the bit – Dilwale’ from the film title to cash out money from the box office counters. Alas! Though the film managed to become a hit, it failed to connect with the audience who expected DDLJ magic to happen once again on screen after long years.
