Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan – The three big Khans of Bollywood have completely dominated Bollywood industry since late 1980s, and their changes – both physical and acting style over the years have not reduced the fan circle. In fact it has increased only over the years. The actors completed their 50 years in 2015, what a strange co-incidence!
While Salman and Aamir entered film industry in the late 1980s, King Khan joined the film circle in the early 1990s, and since 1992, the debate is still going on and it’s not going to end in the distant future – Which Khan is most popular? I would like to keep that debate aside, and love to discuss about those actresses who are fortunate enough to work with all the three Khans of Bollywood.
The recent one who joined the club is none other than Anushka Sharma who played Salman Khan’s wife in biggest blockbuster of the year – Sultan. As Shah Rukh Khan joined film industry in 1992, there is no point in discussing about movies before that.
Madhuri Dixit – The Dhak-dhak girl is in fact the most popular actress of Bollywood since ‘Tezaab’ days of late 1980s, and she got opportunity to work in some brilliant movies of 1990s. She worked with Aamir Khan in 1990 blockbuster Dil, and the movie established its leading pair as the success romantic pair of early 1990s. She shared screen space with Aamir for Deewana Mujhsa Nahin the same year though the film couldn’t re-create Dil magic.

Madhuri worked with Shah Rukh Khan for one of the biggest blockbusters of 1990s – Dil to pagal hai. They also shared screen space for the movies – Gaja Gamini (where SRK played a cameo role), Koyla, Anjaam and Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. In fact the movie also witnessed SRK and Salman Khan sharing screen space for a single film after Karan Arjun. Also read: Dual roles of Khans of Bollywood.
Madhuri worked with Salman Khan for Bollywood’s one of the biggest grossers – Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and her amazing chemistry with Salman is still loved by all. They also shared screen space for the movies – Saajan and Dil Tera Aashiq. Saajan was one of the biggest hits for the year 1991, and its songs were huge chartbusters.
Karishma Kapoor – Another big name of 1990s. She shared screen space with Khans for several blockbusters of 1990s – Dil To Pagal Hai with Shah Rukh Khan, Biwi No: 1 with Salman Khan and Raja Hindustani with Aamir Khan. Though she remained one of the busy stars of 1990s and worked with all major actors of the time, she shared screen space with SRK and Aamir Khan for one movie each only. Though both these movies turned out to be huge hits and proved to the milestone movies of her career, she never worked with them later.
A screenshot from Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge
Among Khans, Karishma Kapoor shared screen space with Salman Khan for maximum number of movies – Biwi No: 1, Jaagruti, Nishchay, Andaaz Apna Apna (Aamir also shared screen space with her), Jeet, Judwaa, Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge, Chal Mere Bhai etc. She was paired with Saif Ali Khan for the movie, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, where Salman also shared screen space with her. I think Salman has been paired with Karishma Kapoor for maximum number of movies.

Kareena Kapoor – Similar to her elder sister, Kareena has exclusively worked with Khans since year 2000, and she shared screen space with Aamir Khan for 3-Idiots and Talaash: The Answer Lies Within. 3-Idiots made a historic run at box office while Talaash: The Answer Lies Within was also a box office hit. Kareena doesn’t hold a good record with Shah Rukh Khan movies. After playing King Khan’s sister-in-law in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, they shared screen space for the movie – Asoka. Though their sizzling chemistry and song sequences got noticed, the movie failed at box-office. Same was the case of Bollywood disaster – Ra One.
Kareena had both hits and misses with Salman Khan. She was paired with Salman Khan for the movie – Main Aurr Mrs Khanna and Kyon Ki, when Salman’s career was going through a rough phase in the 2000s. However her pairing with Salman Khan for Bodyguard was a huge hit and the romantic track – Teri Meri was the biggest song of the year 2011. She was also paired with Salman Khan for the blockbuster hit – Bajrangi Bhaijaan in 2015. Also read: Top 30 songs of Kareena.

Rani Mukerji – One of the most successful heroines of present times, she remained in spotlight since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Ghulam happened in 1998. She shared screen space with two big Khans of Bollywood Shah Rukh and Aamir for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Ghulam respectively. Later she shared screen space with SRK for Chalte Chalte, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Veer Zaara (not as his female lead) and all these films were huge hits at box office. She was paired with SRK for Paheli, the movie shown at several film festivals. In fact, Shah Rukh played a cameo role in one of her big movies – Saathiya in 2002.
She shared screen space with Aamir for the second time in 2012 for the film, Talaash: The Answer Lies Within. She played Aamir’s wife in this film. She was also seen in a cameo role in Aamir Khan’s Mangal Pandey: The Rising. Since early 2000s she has been frequently paired with Salman Khan.
After working together for the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998 (though never had a combination scene in the film), they shared screen space for a series of movies in a row, and gained attention as a successful onscreen pair. Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and Chori Chori Chupke Chupke are successful love triangles made during this period starring Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta. Rani also worked with Salman for the movies – Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye, Hello Brother and Babul, which were box office failures. Also read: Top 10 performances of Rani.
Raveena Tandon – She started her film career opposite Salman Khan for the movie, Pathar Ke Phool in 1991. She later shared screen space with him for the iconic comedy film Andaz Apna Apna, though she was paired opposite Aamir Khan. They also played love birds for year 2000 movie – Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye. Raveena was paired with Aamir Khan for the movie – Andaz Apna Apna, apart from Parampara.
A screenshot from Andaz Apna Apna
Raveena worked with Shah Rukh Khan for the movies – Zamana Deewana, and the delayed release, Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke, the movie released without completion. It’s to be pointed out that, apart from her debut film, she failed to deliver a box office hit with Khans.
Sonali Bendre – She worked with Salman Khan for the movie, Hum Saat Saat Hain and with Aamir Khan for the film, Sarfarosh, and the both the movies were huge hits at box office. However her pairing with Shah Rukh Khan for the movie, English Babu Desi Mem was a huge flop at box office. Though the movie was released soon after DDLJ magic Khan, it couldn’t survive at box office windows. Sonali was paired with SRK for the second film, Duplicate (1998) – a terrible failure.

Manisha Koirala – One of the most talented actresses of Bollywood since early 1990s. However her box office records with Khans is not amazing. She was paired with Salman Khan for Khamoshi: The Musical and Shah Rukh Khan for Dil Se. Despite getting critical appreciation for both these films, both failed at box office. Her onscreen pairing with Aamir Khan for Mann also received luke warm response from audience. But all these three movies were noticed for its melodious songs.

Manisha earlier worked with Salman Khan for the movies – Sangdil Sanam and Majhdhaar, and both failed miserably at box office. Manisha was first paired with King Khan for the movie – Guddu in 1995, a huge flop. Same year she worked with Aamir Khan for the musical – Akele Hum Akele Tum, which did average business at box office. In fact Manisha belongs to that breed of actresses of 1990s and later who found success in Bollywood working with others actors of Bollywood, except Khans.

Urmila Matondkar – In 1995 she became a fashion icon overnight after her makeover for the film, Rangeela. She shared screen space with Aamir Khan for the film. The movie is still regarded as her career best. She was earlier seen aside Shah Rukh Khan for the fantasy film – Chamatkar, and later in the late-1990s aside Salman Khan for Jaanam Samjha Karo.
Twinkle Khanna – Though her Bollywood career was too short, she managed to run around trees aside three big Khans of Bollywood – With Shah Rukh Khan for Badshah (1999), with Salman Khan for Jab Pyar Kisese Hota Hai (1998) and with Aamir Khan for Mela (1999) within a short interval of time. In fact she never worked with these three leading actors again.

Kajol – Her screen chemistry with King of Romance – SRK may take a complete book of hundreds of pages to describe. SRK-Kajol pair is the most successful and popular screen couple of Indian cinema. They worked together in 6 movies – Baazigar (1993), Karan Arjun (1995), Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum (2002), My Name is Khan (2010) and Dilwale (2015) in a time period spanning to more than two decades and all the movies were commercially successful. Read more.
In fact DDLJ and KKHH are regarded as career bests of both these actors.

Kajol worked with Salman Khan for the films – Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and Kuch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Salman played a cameo role of Kajol’s fiancée in Kuch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, while she played a full-fledged film opposite Khan in Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya. Both these musical romantic films were commercially successful. Kajol worked with Aamir Khan for the movie, Fanaa in 2006. Though they worked together earlier for the film, Ishq, they appeared as onscreen couple for the first and last time for the film, Fanaa.
Juhi Chawla – After Madhuri Dixit she has been the most popular actress of 1990s. In fact she got her big break through the romantic tragedy, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak opposite Aamir Khan in the late 1980s, and for the next one decade they were frequently paired for several Bollywood films till they stopped working together after the movie – Ishq (1997). Love Love Love, Tum Mere Ho, Aatang Hi Aatang and Daulat Ki Jung are some of the flops where they worked together. She played a cameo role for a dream sequence of Andaz Apna Apna, and she shared screen space with Aamir. Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and Ishq are the major hits of this lovely pair of 1990s.
Similar to Aamir, she shared an amazing chemistry with Shah Rukh and has delivered numerous hits. When Shah Rukh was a new face of the industry, she agreed to work with him. She was then a well-established actress of Bollywood. They worked together for the first time for the movie – Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992), which met with both commercial and critical success. They later shared screen space for the hit films – Yes Boss, Bhootnath and Darr, and Bollywood flops like Duplicate, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, One 2 Ka 4 and Ram Jaane. They are great friends off screen.

In fact, Juhi has never worked with Salman Khan in a full-fledged film. But Salman Khan played a significant cameo role in the climax of the comedy film – Deewana mastana in 1998. He played Juhi’s fiancée who marries her at the film end. They were seen sharing screen space for the song Deewangi of Ohm Shanti Ohm.
Katrina Kaif – This Bollywood diva worked with all Khans of Bollywood, and all these films were huge hits as well. In fact she had a romantic relationship with the bachelor Khan – Salman Khan earlier. She gained recognition as an actress working with Salman Khan, and the first hit movie of her career was Meine Kyon Pyar Kiya in 2005. She also worked with Salman Khan for Ek Tha Tiger in 2012. They also shared screen space for David Dhawan blockbuster – Partner. But she was paired with Govinda this time.

Katrina worked with Shah Rukh Khan for Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012 and opposite Aamir Khan for Dhoom 3 in 2013. Though both the movies failed to receive positive reviews from critics, they turned to be huge blockbusters. In fact her sizzling chemistry with Shah Rukh Khan was very much loved by audience, despite the age difference. The movie also witnessed King Khan’s first onscreen kiss for a film.
Anushka Sharma – Her pairing with Khans have always delivered hits. She made her film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the film, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, and worked with Aamir for PK. She most recently worked with Salman Khan for Sultan, and all these three movies created records at box office.
Preity Zinta – She is one among those actresses who became equally successful with all Khans of Bollywood. She made her film debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the critically acclaimed Dil Se in 1998. Later she worked with King Khan for the blockbusters – Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Veer Zaara and Kal Ho Na Ho. She worked with Salman Khan for the movies – Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and Jaan-E-Mann. She was paired with Aamir Khan for the classic hit – Dil Chahta Hai in 2001.

The fourth Khan of Bollywood
Saif Ali Khan is a successful actor who has spent more than two decades in the industry and slowly reached the top slot of A-grade actors. So I would like to mention him also in this list.
