Aval Payasam/Flattened Rice Payasam for Vishu Sadya

Ingredients for Aval Payasam for Vishu Sadya:

1. Milk – 1 litre 

    Sugar – 5 tablespoons 

2. White flattened rice (aval) – 1 cup, roasted 

3. Ghee – 1 teaspoon 

4. Raisins – 10 

    Cashew nuts – 10 

5. Cardamom powder – ¼ teaspoon

Method of preparation of Aval Payasam for Vishu Sadya:

1. Boil the milk and sugar together in a thick-bottomed pan. 

2. Add the roasted flattened rice (aval) to this and stir well. 

3. Fry the raisins and cashew nuts in ghee and add them to the payasam for garnishing. 

4. Sprinkle cardamom powder on top and serve.
