Zulfiqar Naqvi – Urdu poet from Kashmir
Zulfiqar Naqvi is a contemporary writer from the state of Kashmir best associated with Urdu poetry. He also owns a career in AIR, where he served as radio announcer at All India Radio, Poonch between 1994 and 1999. As a writer Zaad-e-Safar and Ujaalu’n Ka Safar (2013) are his major published works. He also owns a career as an academician. Most of his works deal with subjects such as Social relations, Human Compulsion and decline of human values, and owns a simple writing style which can be understood by any.
Syed Zulfikar Ali Naqvi’s village Gursai is near LoC in the district in Mendhar of Poonch district, and he was born in 1965. Soon after completing his post-graduation in English literature, he joined AIR Poonch as an announcer in 1994, and worked there for 5 years. He later completed B.Ed and BIAMS and became a Plus two teacher at J&K Education Department. He is married to Sayeda Zakia Fatima and has three children. Naqvi is a well-known name in the literary circles of Poonch.
Zulfiqar Naqvi – Some interesting facts
1. He owns double B.Ed degree and completed his BIAMS course from Kolkata.
2. After Post-graduation he also served in Degree College Poonch as Lecturer on adhoc basis.
3. He also owns a good collection of writings in English including poetry.
4. An English Lecturer by profession he is a good Urdu poet as well, just like celebrated poets – Firaq Gorakhpuri and Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
