Sujata Dixit alias Deevi Sujatha – Telugu actress of ‘Teenmaar Chandravva’ fame

Sujata Dixit alias Deevi Sujatha is a Telugu actress associated with theatre and TV shows belonging to comedy genre. She shot to instant fame after playing Chandravva in the TV news programme Teenmar on V6 News Channel. Her comedic timing, Telangana slang, and energetic performance in the satirical news show Teenmaar Varthalu made her a household name. A well-known Kuchipudi artist, she is also training students.

Sujatha was born on July 10 in Islander, Sangareddy of present-day Telangana. Her father, Ramaswamy, is a retired music teacher who worked at Sangareddy Girls’ High School and retired. Her mother, Lakshmi, is a housewife. She is the youngest of 5 siblings. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer who started formal training at the age of 4. She later continued her training in Kuchipudi at Telugu University and completed in 1995. She has performed on stage and has won several dance competitions.

A brilliant student in studies, she did her PG in Dance Department at Hyderabad University and also completed Journalism, Telugu and Theatre Arts Departments at Telugu University. She also did her Ph.D. research on the subject of folk-art forms of Medak district, and currently pursuing M. Phil. She also learns Carnatic music.

Her role as Chandravva in Teenmaar News at V6 earned her instant recognition

She played Teenmaar Chandravva in Teenmaar News, a satire show on V6 News Channel. Her screen presence, comedic timing and Telangana slang made the show a great hit. The show is known for its humorous take on current affairs and Telangana dialect. Most recently she was seen interviewing Malayalam actors Mohanlal and Prithviraj for their upcoming Malayalam movie, Empuraan in her Telugu language, and very soon the show created many funny memes among Malayalam viewers. She was seen in ‘Chandravva’ avatar in the show.

Deevi Sujatha was married to Sridhar Dixit, the son of Devi Srinivasa Dixit, well-known a stage actor and director. Deevi and Sridhar met for the first time during an acting training and subsequently fell in love. They got married and have a son, Srisri.
