Rebirth of Mystical Aabheri – Lyrics in English with Translation

Mystical Aabheri lyrics and translation

Vanna thamaraye un ennathil siraye

Kaarmekathil uyir pookkum mazhaye

Hey beautiful lotus,

In your thoughts, sometimes

Am seeing your image

As rain, flowering in dark clouds.

Vanna thamaraye un ennathil siraye

Kaarmekathil uyir pookkum mazhaye

Hey beautiful lotus,

In your thoughts, sometimes

Am seeing your image

As rain, flowering in dark clouds.

Konjum mozhipaavaye

Kenjum vizhipaarvaye

Nenjam kaattodu kaayum thaniye

Like a stubborn kid,

Carving to see you once,

Heart is swinging along with wind.

Kazhikal sollum vizhikalingu kalayo

Vizhikal sollum mozhikalingu urayo

The playful eyes,

Are they artistic?

Words told by eyes,

Are they bonding?

Mozhikal sollum kavaikalingu silayo

Kavikal sollum vizhikalingu pirayo

Stories told by words,

Are they (sculptured) stones?

Poems told by eyes

Is it the crescent moon?

En chellamaa nee en selvamaa

Badhil nee sollammaa en uyir kaadal kannammaa

Are you my cute one?

Are you my dearest one?

Only you should reply, my love,

Who is as fond as my life

Naanangalo nagavidum mekangal puzhalo

Kolangalo valaividum paadangal malaro

Shyness..

Are they clouds blossoming?

The feet drawing Kolams

Are they flowers?

(Explaining shyness of a girl)

Kaalangal maathangal ponaalum theyaath

Years, months can pass by

But my love won’t wane.

Thedum parvai ennam

Paadum kaarvai vannam

Koodum korvai ennam

Tamil poonthinkalo

The search of eyes & its counts,

Sung by the milking cows,

Compiling & Waxing

Is it Tamil moonlight?

Thedum parvai ennam

Paadum kaarvai vannam

Koodum korvai ennam

Tamil poonthinkalo

The search of eyes & its counts,

Sung by the milking cows,

Compiling & Waxing

Is it Tamil moonlight?

Unnainaadum manam

Ingu vaadum vanam

Enne theendum dinam

En Uyir Kannamma

My mind is swinging because of you,

It’s a drooping forest.

Searching me every day,

It’s only you, dear

Thedum parvai ennam

Paadum kaarvai vannam

Koodum korvai ennam

Tamil poonthinkalo

The search of eyes & its counts,

Sung by the milking cows,

Compiling & Waxing

Is it Tamil moonlight?

Naanangalo nagavidum mekangal puzhalo

Kolangalo valaividum paadangal malaro

Kaalangal maathangal ponaalum theyaath

Shyness..

Are they clouds blossoming?

The feet drawing Kolams

Are they flowers?

Years, months can pass by

But my love won’t wane

About “Mystical Aabheri

“Mystical Aabheri” is one of Agam’s notable singles that showcases their signature style — a fusion of classical raga melody (mostly reusing famous old Carnatic songs) with layered rock arrangements. The composition draws inspiration from raga Aabheri, a melodic framework in Carnatic music, often used in bhajans and film songs, and the band gives it a modern interpretation. Their fusion songs always resonate with both classical and progressive music fans, and impress music lovers of different tastes.

This particular song, originally written in Tamil is a modern revival or reinterpretation of Aabheri raga for contemporary listeners. This single, beautifully choreographed and performed by Team Anartana, consisting of dancers: Rasika Rajagopalan, Anjana Ramesh, Prerana M.P, Sahana Sivakumar, Manasvini Kaushik, etc was released in 2024 to favourable response.

Why the title is ‘Rebirth of Mystical Aabheri’?

Agam band has earlier released this fusion song in the 2010s, which received a lot of appreciation that time. That’s why they included the tag ‘Rebirth’ to this new revived version in 2024. While the ‘Rebirth’ version received positive responses and rave reviews, many old listeners feel that old raw version was better than the polished new. The old version was taken back from online, a few years back.

Even while staying true to Raag Aabheri (Janya of 14th Melakarta Vachaspati), Agam mixes it with rock/electronic elements without changing the soul and compromising with the classical core. The stunning Bharatanatyam fusion by Team Anartana makes it a must-watch online. You can click this link, watch and share your opinions.
