Raksha Raj – Popular actress of Malayalam small screen

Raksha Raj is a popular television actress who works in Malayalam soaps. She is best known for playing Appu alias Aparna in popular series, Santhwanam. Raksha made her acting debut through the series, Munthiri Thoppukal, and has also appeared in a few Malayalam and Tamil films. Lollipop marked her big screen debut. Raksha is one the among the actresses who marked acting debut with movies, later moved to small screen and became successful through a handful of memorable roles.

Raksha Raj made her big screen debut in a minor role

Raksha was born on 31 May 1994 in Ullyeri of Kozhikode. Her father is a contractor and mother is a housewife. She has one elder brother. She learnt dance from Pookkadu Kalalayam. She has performed in temples and other cultural events. On one such occasion she was spotted by her brother’s friend, a casting director who offered her a brief role in Lollipop (2008). It was followed by Malayali. Thoppi was her debut Tamil film. Since then she has done around 6 films which went unnoticed.

Her father’s accident brought a break in her profession

For her shooting, her father accompanies her outside Kerala, while her mother within the state. Sometimes, her brother Ragin too. When her father got an accident, he was not able to accompany her, and mother too, which brought a small break in movies. It was not possible for her brother to go with her everywhere.

While her father’s health was improving she got her first break to tv shows. ‘Namukku Parkkam Munthiri Thoppukal’ was the show, where she played the female lead Sofia. The show was a hit and she got the second offer through Santhwanam, and till now, her role as Aparna is the most popular one on small screen. She is also active in social media through her reels.
