Painting your walls – Some latest trends

Now in this digital world, it’s possible to make walls similar to digital screens. You may spend some good amount for both interior and exterior. Yet your home design reaches its perfectness only if walls and its colours synchronize with your personal tastes and choices. Your home design is complete only after wall painting process is over.

Latest trend is not to just paint walls with colours, but through creative ideas walls are changed to another space similar to digital screens. An expression of art in different forms and shades, it gives an appeasing effect to spectator’s eyes. Through this column I shall introduce you to a few such experiments.

Self-Embossed Painting – Shades chosen are quite similar or close to the colour of wall. Designs of flowers and birds are usually drawn. 3-D effect is given to flowers, which gives a feel that blossomed flowers are projected from walls. You can choose this design in bedroom or family room, and choose the highlight wall for this design. You can also choose stories from myths or folk tales to give a classic mood to your room. But it suits sitting and dining areas most. You can also draw self-embossed pictures on a small portion of wall.

Stencil Painting – You can do bamboo styling and brocade styling in stencil painting. Use two or three contrasting colours using your creativity for your paintings. Spaces are provided between the patterns, and the structures are lengthy. Choose bamboo painting for your highlighted wall.

Brocade method is similar to hand embroidery done on cloth. Using stencils alternate designs are drawn. Red and blue are preferred colours. You can choose classical or modern themes for your designs.

Motif Painting – This style remains very close to nature, and images of nature such as butterfly, birds, trees and fishes are chosen as patterns. A distinct shade is given to a wall and using motifs patterns are imprinted on walls. It is youth’s favourite. Motif designs are available in online shopping sites and apps. Stickers are also available, with starting rate 350 rupees. When colour fades, you can remove old ones and fix new designs. If you get bored of a design, you can change it instantly, that’s the advantage.

Marble Finish – It gives finish and shining similar to marble and is available in glossy and mat finish. Two or more shades can be used. It gives illusion of original marble. You can draw it in any design and colour. Yet light shades are high in demand. Marble finish best suits broad and wider walls of veranda, living room etc. To highlight walls too, you can choose marble finish paint.

Texture Painting – The landing wall of staircase, wall close to headboard of bed, wall of foyer, highlight wall of living room, wash counter, any portion of ceiling, inner portion of open cupboards – You can use texture painting in any area which stays away from moisture. A contrasting shade is added above the colour of the wall and they are blended to get a unique texture design. You can do texture painting in Glossy, Mat, Rustic finish, 3D effect etc.

Instruments such as spatula, comb, knife or roller or medium such as sand, granite stones etc can be used to make your wall rough or well-polished.
