Horse gram Soup - Muthira Soup

Ingredients for Muthira Soup (Horse Gram Soup):

1. Horse gram – Half cup

2. Coconut oil – Two teaspoons

3. Mustard seeds – Quarter teaspoon

  Curry leaves – One sprig

4. Shallots – Five to six

  Garlic – Four to five cloves

  Ginger – One small piece

5. Pepper powder – Quarter teaspoon

  Cumin powder – Quarter teaspoon

  Turmeric powder – Quarter teaspoon

  Salt – As needed

How to prepare Muthira Soup (Horse Gram Soup)?

1. Soak the horse gram overnight, then cook it well using a pressure cooker the next day, and keep it aside.

2. Crush ingredients no: 4 and keep aside.

3. Heat coconut oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds and curry leaves, then add the crushed ingredients.

3. Add the cooked horse gram along with the water left after cooking, and the powders listed as 5.

4. Boil the contents well to prepare the Muthira Soup (Horse Gram Soup)and serve hot.
