Song Trivia
Hindi Remake of Minnale
Minnale was the debut movie of Gautham Vasudev Menon as a director and Harris Jayaraj as a composer. The movie was a big hit of the year, and the fresh tunes composed by the debutante composer played a magnificent role in the film’s success. The songs of Minnale are loved even 25 years after the album’s release!
The movie was remade in Hindi the same year by Gautham Vasudev Menon, titled Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, with Madhavan reprising his role, and making his Bollywood debut. The movie marked Gautham’s Bollywood debut too. Though Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein was a box office failure, the movie achieved cult status over the years. Though Madhavan’s debut Hindi film was a flop, he went on to become a pan-Indian star within the next few years, delivering several box office hits in Hindi, including 3 Idiots. Diya Mirza also marked her acting debut, where she reprised Reema Sen’s lead role in the film.
Ivan Yaaro – The only song from Minnale not reused
Ivan Yaaro was the only song from Minnale album, which was not reused in the official Hindi remake – Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. Harris Jayaraj composed a new tune, Mujhe Kehna Kehna Tujhse Hai Kehna as a substitute for the song ‘Ivan Yaaro. In fact, the composer included a new track in the Hindi album – Dil Ko Tumse Pyar Hua, which was reused in Kakka Kakka as Ondra Rendra Aasaigal, and this romantic version became an instant chartbuster.
