Fish Thoran (Meen Thoran)

Ingredients for Fish Thoran (Meen Thoran):

1. Turmeric – A small piece 

    Cumin – A pinch 

    Garlic – 4 cloves 

    Chilli seeds – 2 pinches 

    Grated Coconut – ¼ cup 

2. Salt, Malabar Tamarind – As required 

3. Fish – 1 cup 

4. Coconut Oil – 8 small spoons 

    Mustard – ¼ small spoon 

    Rice – 1 small spoon 

    Curry leaves – 1 sprig 

    Chilli – 2, cut into four 

5. Shallots finely chopped – ½ cup 

6. Green chilli roundly chopped – 1 small spoon 

   Ginger finely chopped – ½ small spoon 

7. Egg – 1, beaten 

How to prepare Fish Thoran (Meen Thoran)?

1. Grind the first set of ingredients in a mixer. Add a little water from rinsing the jar and mix well. 

2. Cook the second set of ingredients with a little water and keep aside. 

3. Take one cup of flaked fish in a pan. Place the ground mixture in the center and cover it with the fish. 

4. When steam rises, mix well and let the water evaporate completely. 

5. Heat coconut oil in a pan and sauté the fourth set of ingredients. 

6. Add finely chopped onion and sauté well, then add the sixth set of ingredients and sauté again. 

7. Add the fish mixture and one beaten egg, stirring gently. 

8. Adjust the salt to taste, let the water evaporate completely, and serve hot.
