Cheap Publicity – How much will it cost for KRK to abuse Mohanlal?
Kamal Rashid Khan – self-claimed ‘the best film critic of Bollywood’, so called actor and director whose single film ‘Deshdrohi’ was banned in Maharashtra by the state government, always remains in news for wrong reasons. He appended ‘Kamal’ tag to his name, and also called himself ‘KRK’ to mislead people and get a little publicity in this short name phrase. Posting hate, offensive and provoking tweets, targeting Bollywood celebs mostly heroines and also politicians is his favourite hobby. It has always gained him bad publicity, and more followers in social sites.
It’s not the first time KRK tweets bad opinions against celebrities inviting many verbal wars, and even defamation cases, most recent one from Vikram Bhatt. But he always finds pleasure in insulting others, and enjoys abuses as well. May be he feels happy to gain attention from celebs and disturb their thoughts at least for a while. And the recent one to join the list is south Indian megastar Mohanlal, who is regarded as one of the finest actors of Indian cinema, and whose latest releases broke several collection records the past year. After Dhanush, Mohanlal became the second celebrity from South Indian Cinema who got attacked by KRK’s twitter abuses. Messed up with one of the greats of Malayalam industry who spent more than 35 years here, how much will it cost to KRK?
1000-crore investment for Mahabharata project with Mohanlal playing the lead role of Bhima created a lot of buzz in Indian entertainment industry the past few days. But very soon it took a very ugly turn following a series of bad remarks by KRK on twitter. KRK took on to a twitter war with Malayalam netizens after he remarked that Mohanlal resembles cartoon character Chota Bhim, and that he is wasting B. R. Shetty’s money. Invited wrath from Kerala tweeps within a short while, he posted a few more tweets and it added fuel to the fire.
Calling legendary actor a joker and his fans idiots are among KRK’s bad remarks, and in return netizens flooded social media with thousands of abuses and opinions, in Hindi, English and Malayalam languages. Even Mammootty fans came forward with support to Lal. Though KRK is familiar in north, it’s a new name for many among netizens down south. KRK tried to defend himself and also provided a list of actors best fitted for the roles of Mahabharata. It only invited more abuses to Khan, who wanted to play the role of Lord Krishna in the epic.
KRK took on to twitter soon after the announcement of 1000-crore Mahabharata, and he didn’t even find time to have a clear sketch about what the movie is actually about. It’s not Vyasa’s Mahabharata, but M. T. Vasudevan Nair’s cult classic novel ‘Randaamoozham’, that’s to the adopted on screen with Mohanlal playing the pivot role of Bhima. Retelling Mahabharata from Bhima’s perspective, book is tagged under Revisionism genre. It’s not about great Kurukshetra war to exhibit an actor’s masculine power as have repeatedly seen on big and small screen and it’s a story woven about emotional Bhima, and who else can showcase different shades of human emotions better than Mohanlal himself? M. T is regarded as the greatest screenwriter of Malayalam, and when he himself has found the best candidate in Mohanlal to play the character woven in the 1980s, who else can question it for a wrong choice?
It could have been better for Kamal Rashid Khan to read the novel at least once before passing over the judgment that Mohanlal is the wrong choice for the role. And what about Prabhas, KRK’s choice for Bhima to play the role on celluloid! I agree Prabhas is one of the popular actors at present who gave 100% justification for Bahubali on screen. But MT’s cult classic Randaamoozham is not about blood and war, but the internal conflicts going on inside a man’s mind, and views of the great epic from his angle. Also it could have been better if KRK watched at least a few movies of Mohanlal before posting baseless comments to insult him repeatedly.
It’s not healthy to criticize a person merely on the basis of his physical appearance, neglecting his contributions to his professional field. Using phrases like ‘Uneducated and old thinking people like Mohanlal’ can only harm him, shows how low he is and no more entertaining!
Twitter war is not going to end till KRK stops tweeting about Mohanlal and apologizes before Mohanlal fans. His fans will not easy forget Khan’s remarks who boasts himself to be the biggest star than Mohanlal on the basis of twitter followers. There is one similar cartoon character in Malayalam film industry as well – Santhosh Pandit. But if comparisons are made, Pandit is far better than Khan who never insults any film personality through bad remarks.
A warning has been posted on NUML website then, by a group that called itself “Mallu soldiers”, stating that KRK’s mail id has been compromised and their next target is his ad-sense account, his main source of income, if he doesn’t delete those controversial tweets and apologizes. Watch this space to get recent updates. Stay tuned.
End Note: To pass judgments is easy, to criticize others is much easier, but to win someone’s heart through good words and thoughts is not everyone’s cup of tea, and a big salute to Mohanlal whose silence shows his dignity, enough to proof what a complete actor’s accomplishments truly mean to be!!!
