Abhinay Kinger was a south Indian film actor who predominantly worked in Tamil films. He is best known for playing a supporting role in Thulluvadho Ilamai directed by Kasthuri Raja and released in 2002. The movie marked his screen debut alongside Kasthuri Raja’s son and popular actor, Dhanush.

Interestingly, same year he marked his Malayalam screen debut alongside Fazil’s son Fahadh Faasil in Fazil’s directorial venture, Kaiyethum Doorath, where he played Nikita Thukral’s fiancée. He died on 10 November 2025 after suffering from liver infection, at the age of 44. Despite a promising and impactful debut at a very young age, he was battling for his life and survival during his last years.
Abhinay made his acting debut alongside Dhanush
Abhinay Kinger was born and brought up in Chennai. He was born into a family with strong film background. His mother T. P. Radhamani was a noted heroine of South Indian film industry who appeared in both Tamil and Malayalam movies.
He got his first big break to acting through Kasthuri Raja’s Thulluvadho Ilamai, which launched his son, Dhanush who later established as a leading star of Tamil cinema. The movie was a hit, and it helped Abhinav to get a few more Tamil films in lead, parallel lead and supporting roles.
He notably featured in Jjunction (2002), Singara Chennai (2004) and Pon Megalai (2005). After that his career started shrinking, and he moved to supporting roles. He acted in Solla Solla Inikkum (2009) in a meaty negative shade role and Palaivana Solai (2009) in a pivotal character. He has been a part of several ad campaigns and worked as a model too, during his peak years.
Kaiyethum Doorath (2002) was his first Malayalam film
In 2002 when director Fazil launched his son Fahadh Faasil into Mollywood through romantic musical, Kaiyethum Doorath, Abhinay Kinger played his first Malayalam role. The movie was a disaster at box office. He was later seen in Mollywood movies like Chithrakoodam, Virus etc. He played lead role in Chithrakoodam opposite Silja and I.V. Sasi’s directorial, Anuvaadamillathe opposite Sindhu Menon. Anuvaadamillathe didn’t get a theatre release, though the film’s news appeared in film magazines.
After all those Malayalam flops, he didn’t get any roles from Malayalam cinema and he concentrated on Tamil movies. However, after his initial success in Kollywood, he was offered less-significant roles which he desperately accepted. But none of the movies gave him the real break he was waiting for.
With early 2010s Abhinay’s roles started draining
He started appearing in less-significant roles by early 2010s. He appeared in Tamil movies like Aarumugam, Karthik Anitha, Kathai, Aarohanam, Endrendrum Punnagai, Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham etc, and later took a break from industry. Vallavanukku Pullum Aayudham (2014) was his last theatre release. He last acted in Game of Loans, and the movie will release posthumous. He has also worked as a dubbing artist in Tamil cinema for a few films. He appeared in around 25 films, with Malayalam and Tamil combined.
After the death of his mother in 2019, financial status deteriorated and for the past few years, he was battling with liver ailments. He was deeply affected emotionally too, who was deeply attached to his mother. He tried to make a comeback to industry during post-pandemic films. But he was detected with severe liver ailments and he passed away on 10 November 2025 in his mid-ages. He was single.
Unemployed and with no one to care for him, his financial crisis came out in the media just a few months before his death. He publicly spoke about health and financial struggles. The actor who was living in a single room in Chennai during his last days was struggling to pay his medical bills and cover basic living expenses.
Abhinay – Some interesting and less-known facts
1. His debut films in both Tamil and Malayalam cinema were the launch pads of two leading actors of both the industries – Dhanush & Fahadh Fasil by their fathers respectively. Both nepokids went on to become huge stars with Pan India appeal.
2. He dubbed for Vidyut Jamwal in Thuppakki (2012) and Anjaan (2014), his most famous villain roles. He also dubbed for Milind Soman in Paiyaa and Babu Antony in Kaaka Muttai.
3. He has a long stint at modelling and has appeared in TV ads like Three Roses Tea, Orea, HDFC and others and was a popular face on TV commercials in the 2000s. Among all his ads, TV ad of Oreo biscuits was popular.
4. His mother acted along with him in his debut flick, Thulluvadho Ilamai.
5. Some years back, there were reports that he returned back to life after he met with an accident. He lost his mother soon, which made him totally lost.
