Chandni – Bollywood actress of ‘Sanam Bewafa’ fame

Chandni is a former Bollywood actress who played lead and supporting roles in a few Bollywood films in the 1990s. She is still known for her debut film Sanam Bewafa which she starred in a lead role opposite Salman Khan. The romantic film released in 1991 was a super hit. However she couldn’t survive in Bollywood too long. Mr. Azaad, Henna, 1942: A Love Story, Jai Kishen etc are some of noted works later, where she mostly played parallel lead or supporting roles.

Chandni’s real name is Navodita Sharma. She is a trained dancer and currently teaches Indian Dance in Orlando called C Studios, and often organizes dance shows. She marked her film debut with Sanam Bewafa in 1991 and was active in the industry till 1996. Her last release is Hahakaar. She got married and moved to Orlando, where she is currently busy as a dance teacher.

Chandni – Some interesting facts

1. Chandini owns similar destiny of Bollywood heroines who debut opposite Salman Khan in Bollywood. Film may be hit or flop, those heroines have never survived in Bollywood – Bhagyashree, Nagma, Sneha Ullal, Revathy, Daisy Shah, Bhoomika Chawla, Zarine Khan etc being the best instances. Debangg girl Sonakshi Sinha is the only exception. Kurbaan girl Ayesha Jhulka also received some sort of success in Bollywood films.

2. Though retired from films she is currently busy as a dance teacher.

3. She played one of the lead heroines of 1994 hit action film, Jai Kishen where Akshay Kumar played double role. Chandni and Ayesha Jhulka played female leads.

4. She played Anil Kapoor’s female lead in 1994 film, Azad. She played second lead role in Anil Kapoor’s 1942: A Love Story released the same year.

5. She gave the name of two Kapoor sisters – Karishma and Kareena to her daughters.
