Ente Thenkasi Song from Thenkasi Pattanam – Lyrics in English with Translation

Pachappavizha varnnakudanivaru-
Maavani thiruvizha..
Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram
The Tamil temple festival where
Green & pearl umbrellas open
Love waves of dear Tamil
With thousand new colors
Pachappavizha varnnakudanivaru-
Maavani thiruvizha..
Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram (Chorus – male)
The Tamil temple festival where
Green & pearl umbrellas open
Love waves of dear Tamil
With thousand new colors
Ente thenkashi thamizhpainkilee
Kuri chollunna malar thenkilee
My Thenkasi Tamilbird
The bird which tells future (Pakshi Shastra)
Ente karalinte kadha kelkkumo
Kanni kurimaanam avanekumo
Can you listen what my heart says?
Can you give him my message?
Avanillathe njanillayennente kannante
Kaathil nee… chollumo
Paribhavam parayumo (Female)
Can you whisper in his ears that
Without him, I am nothing?
Can you tell him my gripes?
Pachappavizha varnnakudanivaru-
Maavani thiruvizha..
Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram (Chorus – male)
The Tamil temple festival where
Green & pearl umbrellas open
Love waves of dear Tamil
With thousand new colors
Niramezhum vaarithookaam
Swaramezhum kaathil paadaam
Chirimutham kavilil mutham
Swapnangal swarnnam mukkam (Chorus – female)
Shall apply all the 7 colors
Shall sing 7 octaves in air
Shall give you smile kisses on cheek
Shall dip dreams in gold
Manipeeliyaal kurikkunnu njan
With peacock feather, I am writing
Karalthamburu kanithanthriyil
Midikkunnu raagam
The beating tune played by
Heart Thamburu in the visible strings
Akamalarithalile anuraagam
Niramizhiyinayile mriduraagam
Love which resides in the innermost petal of heart
Soft raga in the tear filling eye pairs
Ithu manassu niranju pakarnnu tharumoru
Kinaavil thulumbum tharangam (Female)
This is overfilling mind with
Brimming waves in dream
Pachappavizha varnnakudanivaru-
Maavani thiruvizha (Chorus – Male)
Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram (Female)
The Tamil temple festival where
Green & pearl umbrellas open
Love waves of dear Tamil
With thousand new colors
Manassammatham thedunnu njan
I am searching for ‘Yes’.
Manakovilil malarpanthalil
Thudikkunnu melam
In the flower pandal of mind temple
Instrumental music is beating
Sirakalilozhukidumoru manthram
Kathirolichitharidumoru sneham
A mantra which flows through veins
Love expressing its light rays
Ithu manassu kulirnu thelinju tharumoru
Kinavil chilambum padangal (Female)
In a dream showing way, Cooling mind,
Uttering words
Pachappavizha varnnakudanivaru-
Maavani thiruvizha..
Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram (Chorus – female)
The Tamil temple festival where
Green & pearl umbrellas open
Love waves of dear Tamil
With thousand new colors
Ente thenkashi thamizhpainkilee
Kuri chollunna malar thenkilee
My Thenkasi Tamilbird
The bird which tells future (Pakshi Shastra)
Ente karalinte kadha kelkkumo
Kanni kurimaanam avalkekumo
Can you listen what my heart says?
Can you give her my message?
Avalillathe njanillayennente penninte
Kaathil nee chollumo
Paribhavam parayumo (Male)

Without her, I am nothing?
Can you tell her my gripes?

Chellathamizhin anputhirayunaru-
Maayiram puthuniram
The Tamil temple festival where

Ente Thenkasi Song – Facts
Thenkasi Pattanam originally made in Malayalam was remade to Tamil in 2002 by the Malayalam duo Rafi-Mecartin. They retained the same title, and Samyuktha Varma reprised her lead role too. Sarath Kumar reprised Suresh Gopi’s role while Vivek reprised Dileep. This particular tune was retained too, along with the rest ones. Tamil version song, Konjam Thenkasi was sung by Srinivas, K. S. Chithra and Sriram. Like the original version, the Tamil movie was also a box office hit.
The movie was remade to Telugu as Hanuman Junction in 2001 and in Bengali as Golmaal in 2008. This comedy entertainer movie is yet to get a Hindi remake. Let’s hope, Priyadarshan will use the main thread of the script and create something in Bollywood in future.
