This one is a Karnataka dish, similar to Kerala’s traditional pachadi. But its taste has a Kannada touch. So why can’t you try this Pachadi in your kitchen?

Ingredients for Aav Pachadi:

1. Carrot – ½ kg, grated

2. Tamarind – A gooseberry sized

    Salt – For taste

3. Sesame oil – 2 spoons

    Salt – For taste

    Mustard – A little

    Curry leaves – 2 stalks

    Red chillies – 4

4. Bengal gram – 4 spoons

To grind:

5. Coconut – ¼

    Green chillies – 3

    Red chillies – 2

    Asafoetida – ¼ spoon

    Mustard – ¼ small

    Jaggery – A pinch

    Turmeric powder – ¼ spoon

    Cumin seeds – ¼ spoon

How to prepare Aav Pachadi?

1. Heat oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.

2. Add grated carrot to it, mix well and allow to cook.

3. Make a fine paste of coconut and rest contents.

4. Add this paste to carrot and mix well.

5. Also add tamarind juice and boil the contents well.

6. Add salt and allow the curry to thicken. Take off from the flame.

7. Fry Bengal gram and powder it.

8. Add Bengal gram powder to your curry.

9. Sauté ingredients no: 3 in sesame oil and pour to your Aav Pachadi.

Note: You can prepare this Pachadi using cucumber or okra. If you use okra, cut them to small pieces and fry well before you use.
