Onion Chutney

Ingredients for Onion Chutney:

1. Onions chopped – 3

2. Green chillies – 2

3. Red chillies – 3

4. Urud dal – ¼ cup

5. Mustard – 1 tsp

6. Cumin seeds – 1 tsp

7. Fenugreek – ¼ tsp

8. Tamarind – 1 table spoon

9. Salt – For taste

10. Oil – 1 tsp

For tempering:

11. Mustard – 1 tsp

12. Red chillies – 2

13. Curry leaves – 4

How to prepare Onion Chutney?

1. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan.

2. Sauté urud dal, red chillies, cumin seeds, mustard and fenugreek seeds, till colour of urud dal turns rown.

3. Transfer the contents to a plate and allow to cool.

4. In the same pan, sauté chopped onion till it changes colour.

5. Add tamarind to it, and put off the flame. Allow to cool.

6. Smash urud dal mixture in a mixer.

7. Add onion-tamarind mixture, green chillies and salt, and grind it adding sufficient water.

8. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and sputter mustard seeds.

9. Add red chillies and curry leaves, and add this oil to onion chutney.
