Mathi (Sardine) – Sandwich Spread

Ingredients for Mathi (Sardine) – Sandwich Spread:

1. Sardine – ½ kg

2. Shallots – 1.5 cups

    Red chillies – 20

    Garlic – ½ cup

3. Ginger sliced thin lengthwise – 2 big spoons

    Vinegar – 1.5 big spoons

    Coconut oil – 2 big spoons

    Curry leaves – 3 stalks

    Salt – For taste

    Turmeric powder – ½ small spoon

How to prepare Mathi (Sardine) – Sandwich Spread?

1. Clean sardine fish and cut each one into two pieces.

2. Crush together ingredients no: 2.

3. Mix fish with this mixture, along with ingredients no: 3. Mix it well using hands.

4. Take a pressure cooker. Spread half amount of this mixture as a layer.

5. Place sardine pieces as second layer, and remaining second part of gravy as third layer.

6. Sprinkle a little water and cook it till five whistles.

7. When the pressure drops to zero, open the lid of cooker.

8. Mix the contents once more, spread on bread pieces and serve.
