Kotte Tambli (Jack Seed Tambuli)

Kotte Tambli is a traditional Udupi dish. It’s a curry made using jack seeds, served along with meals. Tambli, also pronounced as Tambuli is prepared by adding curd or buttermilk.

Ingredients for Kotte Tambli (Jack Seed Tambuli):

1. Jack seeds cooked (after removing skin) – 5

2. Red chillies – 1

    Coconut scrapped – 1 small spoon

3. Salt – For taste

    Asafoetida powder – A pinch

    Butter milk – 1 cup

4. Oil – 2 small spoons

5. Mustard – 1 small spoon

    Urud dal – ½ small spoon

    Red chillies – 3 pieces

    Curry leaves – 10 nos.

How to prepare Kotte Tambli (Jack Seed Tambuli)?

1. Make a fine paste of cooked jack seeds with ingredients no: 2.

2. Add ingredients no: 3 and mix well.

3. Temper ingredients no: 5 in hot oil and add to curry.
