Jain Brothers of Bollywood film industry who owns Venus Records & Tapes Music and Film Production Company

Jain Brothers – who include Ganesh Jain, Ratan Jain, Girish Jain, Champak Jain, Umed Jain, Ramesh Jain and Bhawar Jain are the founders of Venus Records & Tapes company. Apart from releasing musical albums of 1990s, they have also produced numerous films since then, under their home production banner, ‘Venus Records & Tapes’. The company gave several top selling albums of 1990s. As film producers, Baazigar, Khiladi, Josh, Garam Masala, Hulchal, Mein Khiladi Tu Anari, De Dana Dan, Hungama, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Kis Kisko Pyar Karoon etc are their major hit films. Initially the company released only music cassettes

Venus Worldwide Entertainment is one of the oldest and prominent production houses of Bollywood. The brothers ventured into the world of cassettes in the 1980s and rose to prominence in the 1990s. Ganesh Jain and Ratan Jain headed the business to set up the company, and all the brothers were fully associated with it. The company was named Venus Records & Tapes manufacturing company, and they diversified their business plans since 1992, started film production which turned a profitable business.

In 1992 they ventured into film production, also founded United Seven Production House, and Khiladi was the first movie released under this banner. The movie starring Akshay Kumar was a super hit and it also gave the first big break to the actor, who was only a few films old in the industry. The movie earned him the image of action hero, and also ‘Khiladi’ title after a series of movies released under this tag. The company produced second movie of Khiladi series – Mein Khiladi Tu Anari starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, and the movie repeated the success of its sequel. It was one of the first franchises/series ever made in Bollywood cinema, and later it turned a ‘Khiladi’ franchise with Akshay Kumar playing the lead role. It turned a profitable venture.

After Khiladi in 1992, Baazigar released in 1993 became their most profitable and famous project. Both these movies had less-known actors overboard. However after the movie releases, both turned stars, and also gave them the title of ‘promising young stars’. Though less-known actor SRK played a negative role, Baazigar is one of the rare films marked as villain receiving sympathy from viewers, and Shah Rukh Khan scored in this case.

After that they diversified their business further to audio, video, satellite and cable rights. As film producers, they produced many movies of Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, apart from Khiladi series and Baazigar. Some of the major films of Akshay Kumar include Garam Masala, Keemat: They are back and De Dhana Dan. Josh, Baadshah and Yes Boss were their major projects with SRK. They also co-produced Main Hoon Na. In 2019, one among Jain brothers – Champak Jain passed away following brain hemorrhage, aged only 52.

1. They are credited to giving first big breaks to Bollywood superstars – Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar through Baazigar and Khiladi respectively. As film producers, these two were their first two releases. Since then they predominantly produced action films and thrillers.

2. Though the brothers produced first two films of ‘Khiladi’ series which were major hits, they never became a part of the franchise later.

3. They frequently collaborated with director duo Abbas-Mastan for many projects, mostly action thrillers. After giving the duo the big break through Khiladi, they collaborated with the director duo for Baazigar, Badshah, Humraaz etc. Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh became a part of their projects.

4. The company released musical albums of many chartbuster hits in the 1990s and 2000s – Baazigar, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Dhadkan, Kahi Pyar Na Ho Jaaye, Josh, Yes Boss etc to mention a few.

5. Ganesh Jain served as the chairman of the Indian Music Industry (IMI) and Indian Phonographic Industry (IPI) for the year 2012–2013.
